Plazamedia to produce all Euro 2020 matches for Deutsche Telekom's MagentaTV By Jo Ruddock

Plazamedia has been commissioned by Deutsche Telekom as the general contractor to realise the interior production of all Euro 2020 matches on a total of 22 live production days across four channels in UHD and HD.
Deutsche Telekom's MagentaTV will show all 51 matches of the tournament live from 11 June to 11 July and will also present an extensive range of programming. Editorial planning and realisation is the responsibility of thinXpool TV as content service provider and programme organiser.
The implementation, complete with a security and hygiene concept, will take place across 2600sqm in Ismaning near Munich. Three studios, four playouts and a content centre with uninterrupted power supply will be utilised to provide the event live and on demand.
The 350sqm main studio in the ziegelei101 event venue is equipped with state-of-the-art features - including a 32:9 LED wall as well as augmented reality and virtual graphics that give viewers the feeling of being even closer to the action.
Plazamedia has been working as a co-operation partner with Telekom since August 2019, implementing over 1500 live broadcasts per season for linear TV and online/OTT offerings - including from the PENNY DEL ice hockey league, the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga and the third German soccer league - as part of the MagentaSport offering.
Jens Friedrichs, chairman of the management board of Plazamedia, said: UEFA Euro 2020 will not only take place in Munich, but also in Ismaning. We are proud to realise this highlight for MagentaTV. After the rights acquisition by Deutsche Telekom in March this year, the project team set up the content and technical planning under high time pressure. Particularly noteworthy is the professional and close co-operation of all companies involved, such as thinXpool, NEP, VioletOne, Riedel and Plazamedia, as well as other sub-service providers. The UHD production of all European Championship matches and the supporting programme are another example of our good and long-standing co-operation with MagentaTV and the efficiency of Plazamedia. The preparations are complete, we are looking forward to an exciting Euro 2020!
