The GT4586 Sets the GoPro Boo Ablaze at SEMA

In recent years, GoPro has become known for hosting some of the most talked-about autos at the annual SEMA trade show. From builds by the famous Chicago-based Roadster Shop to the ultimate Italian hyper car, the Pagani Huayra, to Ken Block's rally car, there is always something to swoon over at the GoPro booth in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

For 2016, GoPro again came correct, thanks to our friends at Donut Media, who brought us a project car unlike any other.

In collaboration with Gumout, Formula DRIFT star Ryan Tuerck employed the services of Shawn Hudspeth of Huddy MotorSports to stuff a Ferrari 458 motor inside a Toyota GT86. Yep, you read that correctly. Why, you ask? Well, if you've ever seen him behind the wheel, you know Tuerck is a bit of a madman, and then there's always, Why not?

With close to 600hp of oomph, this Italian V-8 is just a tad more powerful than the stock motor of the Toyota GT86. As well, it's a touch larger, so stuffing it into the little sports car's engine bay takes a bit more than some light encouragement and a gentle tap.

It's a pretty wild undertaking, and it's definitely worth finding out how exactly the guys brought this project to life. Check out the Justin Banner's in-depth story on Speedhunters featuring the always incredible photos from Larry Chen.

Perhaps most unique about this project, beyond the build itself, is that this is no standard SEMA trailer queen show car. In fact, almost immediately after the final bolt was tightened, Mr. Tuerck had this thing slaying tires as he spun donuts around an actual Ferrari 458. And yes, Donut Media has been there since the beginning to document both the assembly and, more importantly, the abuse of this ultimate DRIFT ride.

So, after nearly breaking the internet with Donut-shot video edits, Tuerck, Gumout, and Huddy delivered the GT4586 to the GoPro SEMA booth for its official public unveiling. As you can imagine, the combination of sensational and sacrilege attracted huge crowds all week, and was the talk of a show that breeds spectacle.
