Have You Hugged a HIM Today?

A few weeks ago a colleague in Marketing asked me to write a blog spotlighting a customer for HIP Week .But here's the thing. We have so many great customers doing such amazing things for the Health Information Management (HIM) profession, how could I recognize a single organization? That's like asking me to pick the most beautiful woman ever.Well, I like Elizabeth Taylor's eyes, Halle Berry's smile, Grace Kelly's flawless complexion, Jennifer Aniston's hair, Tina Fey's sense of humor and Sophia Vergara's curves. You get the picture it's hard to pick just one.

So, in the spirit of recognizing those of you delivering quality healthcare through quality information, here are a few of our customers that I admire most:

Reduce, Reuse, Reward: Why store inactive patient records onsite when you can put that valuable space to better use? That's just what Lahey Clinic did. They reduced the size of their medical record file room by moving patient records offsite, reused that space to put in a lab and the reward? $1M in additional revenue generated annually.

Less is More:Shortening your Revenue Cycle is a foolproof way to get paid faster. Exempla Healthcare leveraged outsourced scanning to image patient records within 24 hours of discharge, accelerating billing and compressing their revenue cycle.

Faster is Better: Early on in their EMR journey, Novant Health leveraged their own staff to perform scanning services in some of their 355 clinic locations, but quickly discovered the task was more challenging than originally expected. By outsourcing their records storage and scanning, they accelerated their transition to the EMR, improved the delivery of patient care, and focused their staff on high-valued tasks, all while maintaining consistency and compliance.

Given limited space and the word count police (yes, that same individual that asked me to write this blog), it's unfortunate that I can't recognize each and every one of our customers.
