Changes have been made to the leadership of the Industrial Metrology and Vision Care business groups.

Dr. Jochen Peter becomes new Head of the Industrial Metrology business group

Effective 1 October 2015, Dr. Jochen Peter will head the Industrial Metrology business group and simultaneously assume the role of President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH. In his new function he will report to Dr. Michael Kaschke, President and CEO of Carl Zeiss AG.

Peter is taking over from Dr. Rainer Ohnheiser who has decided to retire effective 1 October 2015. Ohnheiser has led the business group since 2003. "We thank Dr. Ohnheiser for his outstanding work," Kaschke said. "He worked for ZEISS for a total of over 30 years. Under his leadership there has been a constant increase in the profitability and sales of the Industrial Metrology business group. He also substantially promoted the development of an extensive service business and implemented many measures to lead the business group into the Industry 4.0 era."

Harald Klaiber and Felix Hoben, members of the business groups leadership team and of the Management Board of Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH, will head Industrial Metrology together with Peter in the future. Peter is currently Head of Technology & Innovation in the Vision Care business group. He was previously Head of Strategic Corporate Development of the ZEISS Group.

New management in the Vision Care business group

Dr. Raymund Heinen, who joined ZEISS in 2008 and was most recently Head of the Vision Care business group, will leave ZEISS at his own request. "Dr. Raymund Heinen has played a major role in shaping the development of the Vision Care business group in recent years," Kaschke said. "Under his management the business group has achieved a turnaround in business and is now operating at a profit again. We thank him for his committed and successful work and extend our best wishes to him for the future."

Ulrich Krauss will also leave the company at his own request. He has been with ZEISS since 1993 most recently as a member of the Vision Care leadership team and bore responsibility for the North America business. "We also thank Ulrich Krauss for his committed and successful work and wish him all the best for the future," Kaschke said. "Ulrich Krauss worked for ZEISS for over 20 years. He has successfully contributed to the development of the Medical Technology business group and has considerably advanced the status of Vision Care business group in the eyeglass industry."

The future Vision Care Management Board will be comprised of the following members:

Dr. Matthias Metz, Member of the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG, Head of the Vision Care business group,

Sven Hermann, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer,

Dr. Marc Wawerla, Chief Operations Officer.

The extended Management Board will include:

Paul Bilsdorfer, responsible for finance and supply chain management,

Dr. Timo Mappes, responsible for innovation,

Jens Boy, responsible for the North America business.

The team will commence its activities on 1 August 2015.

Development possibilities for up-and-coming managers

When filling the management positions in the two business groups, ZEISS focused sharply on managers from within the company. "This underscores the excellent development possibilities available at ZEISS," Kaschke emphasized. "We give up-and-coming managers scope and more responsibility."
