Sweden wins 57 Eurovision Song Contest

Europes public has voted Loreen from Sweden, winner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan, before a worldwide viewing audience of more than 100 million.

Baku, 26 May 2012 Europes public has voted Loreen from Sweden, winner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan, before a worldwide viewing audience of more than 100 million.

The 28 year old artist scored 372 points for Euphoria, written and produced by Peter Bostr m and Thomas G:son before an enthusiastic audience at the Crystal Hall in Baku. The production was transmitted live over the Eurovision and Euroradio networks to Europe and other countries worldwide via EBU Member, Ictimai TV.

Viewers in countries taking part in the competition voted for their favourite songs via a pan-European televoting system, which opened after all the songs had been performed. Professional juries in each of those countries also had a 50% state in the outcome.

EBU Executive Supervisor, Jon Ola Sand, said the EBU was determined to continue this long-standing tradition. "The EBU would like to thank Ictimai TV. All three shows broadcast this week were produced to the highest standards. Our congratulations to the winners and the finalists who can be proud of the role they played in delivering a fantastic evening of entertainment."
