Miguel Churruca, director de marketing y comunicaci n en Brainstorm y el dise ador gr fico Quique Beneyto han participado en un workshop en BIT Experience en el que han expuesto las posibilidades que para entornos broadcast brinda la realidad aumentada.
Este se viene usando para describir formas de mejorar la visualizaci n de contenidos en medios tales como PCs o smartphones a adiendo datos como informaci n externa, gr ficos, im genes, mapas o incluso publicidad.
Tambi n podemos hablar de realidad virtual como el m todo para visualizar im genes sint ticas en contexto con otras reales. M s recientemente se est hablando de realidad mixta, entendida como la combinaci n de entornos reales y virtuales, lo que en esencia es otra forma de definir la realidad virtual.
Por extensi n, ha afirmado Churruca podemos pensar que el chroma key tradicional o un set virtual es una forma de Realidad Virtual, pues el resultado de la composici n no es real, sino resultado de componer diferentes im genes, reales y virtuales. Continuando con esta reflexi n, incluso podr amos decir que cualquier composici n digital ser a una forma de realidad virtual, y que la realidad aumentada ser a una forma de Realidad Virtual, dado que no todas las im genes de realidad virtual podr an entenderse como realidad aumentada .
La compa a espa ola Brainstorm puede acreditar una experiencia de m s de 20 a os en la creaci n de realidad virtual para televisiones de todo el mundo. Ya en las elecciones de 1995 Brainstorm brind a Antena 3 la posibilidad de mostrar gr ficos de realidad aumentada en la mesa de los presentadores, mostrando resultados creados a partir de datos en tiempo real.
Los programas de cobertura de elecciones se prestan especialmente a este tipo de aplicaciones, dado que las televisiones deben mostrar una gran cantidad de datos, permanentemente cambiantes, de forma atractiva y comprensible para el espectador, a la vez que proporcionan una experiencia visual novedosa. En las elecciones de 2016 para TVE, Brainstorm llev todo esto a un nuevo nivel, puesto que la cadena, para su 60 aniversario, quer a llevar m s lejos la tecnolog a de set virtuales, aportando realidad aumentada en tiempo real, projection mapping y teletransportaci n de los presentadores a localizaciones remotas en vivo.
Esto implicaba que el InfinitySet de Brainstorm, el equipo usado para lograr este resultado, deb a componer en tiempo real y con perfecta continuidad y ajuste de movimiento y perspectiva tanto v deos en directo y pregrabados como presentadores en fondo de chroma, adem s de los gr ficos con datos en tiempo real actualizados constantemente. Los operadores de TVE combinaron en tiempo real datos de tracking de las c maras, se al de chroma con los presentadores, un v deo de fondo pregrabado con datos de tracking y renderizaban la composici n en tiempo real a adiendo los gr ficos basados en datos externos continuamente actualizados. Adem s, InfinitySet fue capaz de a adir sombras y efectos de iluminaci n y reflejos sobre los fondos virtuales, consiguiendo un resultado extraordinariamente realista.
Casos pr cticos
Quique Beneyto ha expuesto con casos pr cticos en v deo algunos ejemplos de las posibilidades que brinda InfinitySet. Gracias a la revolucionaria tecnolog a TrackFree y su herramienta TeleTransporter, InfinitySet permite utilizar indistintamente im genes reales, en directo o pregrabadas como fondo para el plat virtual. Con ello Brainstorm difumina a n m s los l mites entre el mundo real y el virtual, permitiendo al presentador entrar en cualquier escenario, en cualquier momento. Esta interacci n es posible gracias a la herramienta 3D Presenter, que convierte al presentador en un objeto 3D capaz de interactuar en el entorno 3D, as como en el mundo de la realidad aumentada.
Although the possibility of including the presenter in a virtual set is already commonly used in a virtual environment, Brainstorm takes a step forward with the new functionality VirtualGate, capable of integrating the presenter not only in a virtual set, but other additional content at the same time, in the same scene. As a result of the TrackFree technology, VirtualGate allows you to teleport to the presenter who is now in a virtual stage to a new video in perfect harmony and continuity.
