LinkedIn is enabling partner platforms to integrate LinkedIn verifications to help build trust with their own users, as two thirds (65%) of people say they worry about who to trust online*
LinkedIn's new Verified on LinkedIn service means its 80 million verified members can use their profile as proof of their identity on different online platforms
Adobe has become one of the first brands to leverage the new service, integrating it into the Adobe Content Authenticity app and Behance platform, to help creators attach their verified identities and increase trust
Other launch partners include TrustRadius, G2 and UserTesting
LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, is launching a new service to help Internet users gain more confidence in the authenticity of people and companies they interact with.
Verified on LinkedIn enables partner platforms to benefit from verifications on LinkedIn, helping internet users engage with real people, jobs and companies. Over 80 million people have already verified on LinkedIn and 75 people verify information on the platform every minute. They can now display LinkedIn verifications on other platforms, enhancing their trust and credibility across the Internet.
Research from LinkedIn* found that nearly two thirds (65%) of people say they are worried about who they can trust online, as new technology leads to a rise in deceptive content. With internet fraud and scams across the internet costing businesses $60 billion** a year, not knowing who to trust online can have huge real world consequences for businesses and consumers. LinkedIn's research shows that 4 in 10 people are likely to do further research into who a person is before buying a service from them online*. For platforms, it's crucial that users feel confident in the authenticity of people theyre interacting with.
Verified on LinkedIn is the first time LinkedIn members can take their authenticity to other sites, helping platforms create safe interactions between authentic users. It empowers LinkedIn members to take control of their digital presence and interactions by linking the verifications they have completed on LinkedIn instead of needing to verify their identity on every online platform. In just a few clicks, users can provide reassurance to buyers, prospective clients and networks that information about them has been verified.
Collaboration with Adobe and other brands to integrate Verified on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is continuing to invest in verifications to give members more confidence in the people and companies they are engaging with. Adobe is one of the first major brands to leverage Verified on LinkedIn in its products and platforms - including the Adobe Content Authenticity app and Behance platform - allowing creators to attach their verified identity with just a few clicks after completing LinkedIn's simple verification process and linking their accounts. Identity verification is a crucial step in helping to ensure that creators receive proper attribution and credit for their work, while also fostering connections and potential professional opportunities.
In coordination with this announcement, LinkedIn will expand its existing support for Content Credentials, a global technology standard for digital content provenance, by displaying the new verified identity information attached with the Adobe Content Authenticity app. For example, if youre a professional photographer using Adobe's Content Authenticity app to attach Content Credentials to your digital work, your verified identity will appear alongside your content on LinkedIn, helping protect your work, secure the credit you deserve and build valuable trust with your audiences online. Additionally, LinkedIn has also joined the Adobe-led Content Authenticity Initiative as a member, joining more than 4,500 members dedicated to promoting mainstream adoption of Content Credentials to foster a more transparent and trustworthy ecosystem.
Other brands integrating the service include TrustRadius, G2 and Usertesting. For TrustRadius - a B2B platform providing reviews and ratings to help tech buyers make decisions about products - the Verified on LinkedIn feature gives users more confidence that the reviews they're basing purchasing decisions on are trustworthy because they have been written by someone whose identity has been verified.
Oscar Rodriguez, Vice President, Trust at LinkedIn, said: The rise in online fraud and scams across the web, driven by fake profiles, costs firms billions of dollars a year. With people increasingly likely to check someone's identity before they work with a new contact or supplier, or buy a product or service online, companies take a big hit if their customers don't feel confident using their online platforms. Using Verified on LinkedIn, users will be able to use the verifications they've completed on LinkedIn to show who they are across the different online platforms they use, boosting trust, confidence and credibility.
