FOX International Channels continues to expand the distribution of its two main National Geographic TV brands,which are available to Orange Pay-TV subscribers in France from 22 May 2014.
National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild take the legacy of the National Geographic Society through extraordinary documentaries inspired by exploration, education and wildlife conservation.
Paris, May 27th, 2014 - FOX International Channels (FIC) continues the company's expansion in Europe with the launch on Orange, the French multinational telecommunications provider, of its two main Nat Geo brands - National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild that are available to Orange Pay-Tv subscribers from 22 May 2014 in SD and HD formats.
National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild increase their distribution in France to more than nine million and eight million subscribers, respectively. Both channels inspire viewers around the world through extraordinary documentaries which seek to promote exploration, education and wildlife conservation as an extension of the historic National Geographic Society.

This agreement allows Orange to reinforce the quality and the appeal of its multi-themed Pay-TV brand strategy. The prestige of the channels under the National Geographic brand is very strong, and represents the benchmark for documentary TV-making. Each of these channels has a well-defined editorial line and position, and will enhance the viewing experience for our Extra' Pay-TV subscribers, says Guillaume Lacroix, Director of Partnership and TV services and video at Orange.
With an extensive presence in 171 countries, National Geographic Channel is the flagship brand in the factual genre at Fox International Channel. With an impressive increase in audience numbers in recent months in France (+48% in the previous year**), the channel produces strong programs in the factual-entertainment genre, including: Brain Games, which reveals the mysteries of the human brain; Street Genius, a science program for non-scientists; and the event series Cosmos, a spacetime odyssey developed by FOX that takes the viewer on a mind-blowing journey through the universe. In a different style, the Man vs. Alaska series defines the essence of human exploration through the eyes of National Geographic.
Nat Geo Wild offers majestic documentaries and impressive cinematography from the natural world. Sometimes touching and always fascinating, Nat Geo Wild has become a reference point for wildlife film-making. Enjoying impressive audience growth in France (+56% in the last year **), the channel has recently developed the documentary series Destination Wild, which offers viewers a chance to experience the Earth's rich abundance of wildlife. The channel also continues to support the important work of the National Geographic Society (as scientific and educational non-profit organization) with dedicated programs such as Big Cat Week.
