RT Announces Election Exit Poll As Part of Election Coverage

21 May 2014: RT has announced an Election Exit Poll among its comprehensive election results coverage across television, radio, online and mobile platforms.

Coverage begins on Saturday 24th May and following through the coming days. The exit poll, commissioned from independent research company Behaviour and Attitudes, will look to reflect voting patterns in the European elections and nationwide in the Local elections.

RT Radio 1 will be first with coverage as election regulars Sean O'Rourke and Rachael English present a special Elections 2014 programme from 9.00am to 1.00pm revealing the results from the RT Exit Poll along with updating listeners on earlier indications from the Local elections and two D il By-elections.

Claire Byrne will then continue presenting the latest election results radio coverage from 1.00pm when she will be joined by a panel of guests for opinion and analysis along with updates from across the regions.

RT One television's Elections 2014 live coverage begins at 1.00pm and runs to with live coverage of the early results indications from the Local and European elections, as well as the two D il By-elections. Miriam O'Callaghan and David McCullagh host studio analysis and discussion, with the latest reports from count centres across the country.

Elections 2014 continues on RT One television at 4.00pm with Bryan Dobson and David McCullagh presenting comprehensive coverage of results from the Local elections, with live count updates from the two D il By-elections and tally indications from the European elections leading up to the Six One News.

Saturday evening will see RT Radio 1's This Week present a special hour long election programme at 6.00pm as Richard Crowley and guests analyse the emerging trends from local elections results.

RT 's Election Results coverage on Sunday 25th May will begin with a special hour-long Morning Ireland broadcast with Cathal MacCoille at 9.00am on RT Radio 1. This will be followed by a Marian Finucane Election Special at 11.00am. Richard Crowley and Colm Mong in will present This Week at 1.00pm with further elections discussion and analysis.

From midday on RT One television, Claire Byrne and David McCullagh will present results, analysis and comment on the Local elections and the two D il By-elections, along with live reports from around the country on the progress of the European election counts.

Following the Nine News, a special Elections 2014 programme will feature comprehensive live coverage of the European elections, with results, analysis and reports from the three count centres around Ireland, updates from Brussels on the progress of the international counts, along with studio discussion and reaction presented by Bryan Dobson and Miriam OCallaghan.

And on Sunday night on RT Radio 1 a special Late Debate with Audrey Carville will report and reflect on the results of the European Elections from 10.00pm.

V ta 2014 is an RT Nuacht co-production with TG4 and will be broadcast on TG4 on Saturday (11.30am -1.00pm and 7.00pm - 8.00pm) and Sunday (11.30am -1.00pm and 7.00pm - 7.30pm). Presented by P id Lionaird and Eimear N Chonaola, the four programmes will feature updates and analysis on the By-elections, Local elections and European election counts. With live contributions from count centres and a series of panels including former Fine Gael leader Alan Dukes and Fianna F l TD amon Cu v, V ta 2014 promises a lively mix of the latest information and analysis.

From Saturday morning at 10.00am, until late Sunday night, L an Chomhairimh on RT Raidi na Gaeltachta will provide comprehensive coverage of the European, Local and By-election results. There will be RnaG reporters in count centres around the country who will report the results, and the reactions on the ground. An expert panel will be in studio to discuss and analyse the results, and their implications for the public, for the government, and for the country. The panel will include Alan Dukes, former Leader of Fine Gael and Minister for Finance; Se n Neachtain, former MEP; Professor Gear id Tuathaigh; Paddy Duffy, Communications Consultant; Seosamh Cuaig, outgoing Galway County Councillor; journalist ine N Chiar in; and statistician Donncha h allaithe. The programmes will be chaired by M ir n N Ghadhra and Gormfhlaith N Thuairisg. L an Chomhairimh will be broadcast from 10.00am on Saturday, and from 11.45am on Sunday. Coverage will also continue on programmes on the station on Monday.

Online and mobile coverage will run on rte.ie/news and on the RT News Now app from the opening of boxes right through to the completion of each and every count. RT .ie will run a live tracker/blog covering every detail as the count unfolds with the latest results, analysis, tweets and opinions on Elections 2014. The service online and on the new RT News Now app will be the most comprehensive overview available to the Irish public.

Live coverage on the RT News Now channel (available on Saorview, UPC and on the RT News Now App will have a rolling results service, and all breaking news developments as well as carrying live coverage of the key RT Election programmes on both TV and radio starting at 9.00am with the radio election results programme presented by Sean ORourke and Rachael English.

The @rtenews twitter account, currently the largest single news twitter account in the country with almost 200,000 followers, will be live tweeting the results and updates while subscribers will also be kept up to date with key moments via the Push Notifications on the RT News Now app. Updates will also run on @rteradio1 and @rte.
