Sports Video Group Unveil Finalists for 2021 SVG College Sports Media Awards Finalists to be celebrated, winners to be named in virtual ceremony on June 23 By SVG Staff

The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) are pleased to announce finalists for the 2021 SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA (CSMAs).

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the 13th-annual SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA during a virtual ceremony hosted on SVG's YouTube channel on June 23 at 7 p.m. ET.

Representing a variety of college athletic departments, conference offices, professional networks, production companies, and students, finalists are named across four divisions in five categories.

The past 15 months have been exceptionally trying and challenging for those who work in and love collegiate athletics, says Brandon Costa, director of SVG College, and, yet, despite all of the challenges thrown their way, the exceptionally-talented storytellers, technicians, producers, editors, administrators, and students at collegiate athletic departments, conference offices, and broadcast networks across the country were not only up to the challenge, but capable of producing video projects even more elite than ever before. We at SVG are in awe of the continued growth in the quality of work coming from the collegiate community.

Overall there are two things that strike me most about the 2021 College Sports Media Award entries, says Tom Buffolano, chairman of the SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA. First, the ability to produce high quality work in the face of adversity. Social distancing forced everyone to immediately rethink how they would produce not only live events, but how they would assemble a staff who were most times geographically dispersed and still deliver the volume of work that we've all become accustomed to. Second, a major part of storytelling was focused on social justice in many forms and the prominent voice that college athletes added to the conversation. It was powerful and captured elegantly by the school video teams.
