HUNGER' Clinches Best Feature Film at 2023 Asian Academy Creative Awards

HUNGER, Netflix's film from APAC with the highest view hours in the first half of this year, has now added another feather to its cap. The Thai film won Best Feature Film at the 2023 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) in Singapore, triumphing over a long list of other outstanding films from various ASEAN countries.

Directed by Sitisiri Monkolsiri and starring Nopachai Peter' Jayanama, Chutimon Aokbab' Chuengcharoensukying, and Gunn Svasti, HUNGER not only claimed the #1 rank on the Netflix Global Top 10 Films list but also topped the charts in 51 countries, reaching Top 10 in 91 countries. . With a total of 92 million hours viewed from January to June 2023, the film sparked the Crybaby Noodles trend that people couldn't get enough of.

Previously, HUNGER also won three awards in the national round of the AACA, including Best Feature Film, Best Original Screenplay by Kongdej Jaturanrasmee, and Best Actor in a Leading Role, awarded to Nopachai Peter' Jayanama for his portrayal of Chef Paul.

Director Sitisiri said, "Its a pleasure to see HUNGER being recognized on the international stage. This award is an encouragement for my team and me who worked extremely hard on this project. We are grateful to the ASEAN viewers for their interest in and support for HUNGER, a film from Thailand."

Screenwriter and producer Kongdej Jaturanrasmee revealed, "From the outset, we intended to create HUNGER as a film that communicates contemporary issues to a global audience. Amidst a pivotal period in the worlds economy, the food industry peaked, and our hfood choices became tools for class discrimination, driven more by emotion than taste. Moreover, it is an industry that is both regimented and intense in ways few outsiders may have ever experienced. Receiving this award is truly an encouragement and celebration for the crew, cast and director who came together to successfully convey human stories from our perspective to audiences worldwide."
