Banijay today announces Mastiff TV Denmark, part of Banijay Nordic, will adapt Starstruck for DR1. This marks the fourth deal for the hit studio entertainment format, where a trio of performers are transformed into the same iconic star, giving audiences three times the fun, talent and reveals.
Originally created by Banijay UK label Remarkable Entertainment, Starstruck was the number one show in the Saturday evening slot and is set to return to ITV and ITVX for a second series. Mastiff TV Denmark's commission follows that of Chile where the series was produced and broadcast on Canal 13. Banijay Rights also landed a sale in Bulgaria where the show was produced by Global Film for Nova TV.
Kristian Farcin-Leth, CEO Mastiff TV Denmark comments: Starstruck is a great addition to our slate, offering premium, upbeat, and engaging entertainment with fantastic co-viewing potential for DR1. We are excited to uncover the transformations and showcase Denmark's exceptional talent.
Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations at Banijay says: Starstruck is the perfect example of why studio entertainment continues to attract broad audiences. The format is a triple threat of joyful celebration, glittery transformation and pop music legends. With multiple performers for each song, it has three times the fun; it's guaranteed to get the party started for broad family audiences. It is brilliant to see this IP launch in a fourth territory and we are looking forward to seeing where it goes next.
From Miley Cyrus to Marvin Gaye, Starstruck transforms ordinary members of the public, with exceptional talent, into some of the world's biggest music icons. However, they won't be on stage alone. Instead, they will line up as three different interpretations of the same artist and give a combined performance set to wow the judges. With a cash prize at stake, only one will go through to the final and be in with a chance of winning. Who will leave the audience Starstruck?
Mastiff TV Denmark boasts an impressive slate of non-scripted titles including Survivor, SAS: Who Dares Wins, Drag Me Out, and Good Luck Guys, which recently premiered on Prime Video.
