Los Angeles, CA - Sundance Institute today announced the appointment of Jared Hendler as Director of Marketing and Communications, responsible for overseeing all external communications for the Institute, including supervision of marketing, social media and media relations. He begins today and is based in the Institute's Los Angeles office.
In his new role as part of the Senior Leadership group, Hendler will supervise brand strategy and messaging, develop methods to grow constituencies, and launch new collaborations to tell the story of Institute artists, programs and activities. He will report to Executive Director Keri Putnam and work closely with Jessica Buzzard, Director of Marketing; Joseph Beyer, Director of Digital Initiatives; and Casey De La Rosa, Director of Media Relations.
Putnam said, We are pleased to welcome Jared into this new leadership role with Sundance Institute. Together with the artists we support, the Institute is embracing the changes that come with the growing and evolving digital landscape for building community and sharing content. We look forward to working with Jared to provide both artists and audiences with unique experiences and value.
Hendler said, I am thrilled to bring my depth of experience within integrated communications and the digital world to the Sundance Institute team and join the Institute on its longstanding commitment to support independent filmmakers and audiences.
Hendler has extensive experience in the areas of branding, integrated marketing, digital and social media and public relations having worked as Founding Partner at Brand Content Agency, Global Director Digital & Creative at MWW Group and Executive Creative Director at Katalyst Media as well as prior executive jobs at Edelman, Grey Advertising and others. He holds a BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and recently moved back to Los Angeles after living in New York for many years.

Founded in 1981 by Robert Redford, Sundance Institute is a nonprofit organization that provides and preserves the space for artists in film, theatre, and new media to create and thrive. The Institutes signature Labs, granting, and mentorship programs, dedicated to developing new work, take place throughout the year in the U.S. and internationally. The Sundance Film Festival and other public programs connect audiences to artists in igniting new ideas, discovering original voices, and building a community dedicated to independent storytelling.
