A production unit of the new 65mm Macro Anamorphic/i 2x Prime lens will be available to view on Cooke Optics stand 11.D10 at IBC 2015, alongside the Academy Award -winning companys acclaimed 5/i, Anamorphic/i, S4/i and miniS4/i lens ranges. Cooke will also reveal more details about its highly anticipated Anamorphic/i Zoom lens, and will present /i3, a major update to its /i Technology metadata system. In addition Cooke will launch cookeoptics.tv, a new channel celebrating the work of many of the worlds leading cinematographers.
The 65mm Macro anamorphic lens, which began shipping in September, boasts a close-up magnification ratio of 4:1:1 and, unlike many of its competitors, has a close focus of 5.5 from the front of the lens, which is almost unheard of in an anamorphic lens. The key feature of Cookes macro lens is that its focus does not fall apart as it gets to macro focuses, making it ideal for close-ups and product shots.
Cooke has also started shipping the much-requested 65mm and 135mm Anamorphic/i lenses, rounding out the acclaimed anamorphic range.
Amid its many recent lens developments, Cooke has also been working on /i3 (/i Cubed) a major new version of its /i Technology metadata system that provides detailed lens data to VFX and post-production teams. /i3 firmware now provides distortion mapping - not just a theoretical measurement of all lenses of a particular focal length, but of the specific lens in use. The new function will be available in lenses shipping from Q4, and older lenses with /i sensors can be upgraded with the new firmware for a modest cost to be confirmed. Additional features including illumination characteristics will follow shortly.

IBC also sees the launch of the Cooke Optics TV channel, cookeoptics.tv. The channel will present exclusive interviews with some of the worlds leading cinematographers including Sean Bobbit, Haris Zambarloukos, Lol Crawley and more. The cinematographers offer fascinating insights into their methods and share behind the scenes stories from experiences throughout their careers. New videos will be uploaded regularly.
