GoPro Athletes Say Farewell to Los Angeles as X Games Host City

San Mateo, CA (August 6, 2013) - The sun has now set on the 2013 Global X Games, and we have officially said goodbye to Los Angeles as a host city of the premier action sports event. However, the history made in the City of Angels will live in infamy, even as the X Games departs for new host cities, including Austin, Texas, in 2014.

The GoPro team wrote its own excerpt into the LA legacy this final weekend, penned by none other than X Games veteran Bucky Lasek. The 40-year-old dominated the Skateboard Vert ramp once again outside the Staples Center en route to his fourth consecutive Gold medal in what has become a storied year in his professional career. Even more satisfying, Lasek was joined by his two GoPro teammates, Pierre Luc Gagnon and Andy Macdonald for a sweep of the podium, GoPro's second of the 2013 Global X Games.

In BMX Street action, Chad Kerley attacked the course with his signature manual and grind combos to edge out the extremely tight competition. His technical bike control and consistency led him to his first X Games Gold medal.

Continuing the inscription into the history books was Ronnie Renner, who won his fifth Gold medal in Step-Up, becoming the winningest athlete in the highly TV-rated discipline. Successfully clearing the bar on each of his first attempts, Renner eventually sailed over the 38.5 feet mark to secure gold over Libor Podmol. Elsewhere in the MotoX world, GoPro athlete Nate Adams raced to the Speed & Style Gold, then backed it up with some Bronze hardware in MotoX Freestyle, further cementing his name into the history books as a perennial medal winner.

Red Bull KTM's Taddy Blazusiak battled through a technical EnduroX course for yet another MotoX Gold for GoPro on the final day of competition inside the Staples Center. Blazusiak has been looking for that second win since his Gold medal performance in Brazil at the beginning of the Summer X tour. His performance inside the Staples Center helped punctuate an amazing journey for GoPro and its athletes throughout the 2013 Global X Games tour, and we are already anxious to dive into the 2014 Games.
