Sampleson release Boomcha

Turn quick sketches into real drum grooves

Sampleson have been experimenting with assistive production tools recently, and their latest creation aims to make quick work of creating fully-fledged drum parts from basic user-defined kick and snare patterns.

Boomcha has been built around a library of over 1.5 million phrases that have been performed by real drummers. A huge range of styles are covered, and all of the grooves are supplied as MIDI parts that retain the dynamics and subtle variations that make the performances feel human'.

Getting matched up with a part is as simple as entering a rough pattern into the software's kick and snare (or Boom and Cha) grid, and it will respond by presenting a selection of patterns that follow the same basic rhythm.

Once you've found a groove you're happy with, it can be dragged and dropped into a DAW's MIDI or instrument track, where it can be edited in the same way as any other MIDI part. And of course, because the plug-in is just producing MIDI data, it's possible to use Boomcha alongside any third-party virtual drum instruments.

Compatibility Boomcha is supported on PCs running Windows 7 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.7 and above. VST3 and AU and plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
