EVS to Share Film Industry Standards at SMPTE 0

EVS Media will share its Interoperable Master Format (IMF) and Material Exchange Format (MXF) expertise by presenting a paper entitled French Cinema Goes IMF and showcasing its latest MXF and tapeless workflow production solutions at the SMPTE 2013 Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, taking place on October 22-24 in Hollywood, California.

On October 23, Cristian Garcia, business development manager for EVS Media, and Francois Helt of Highland Technologies Solutions will present a paper examining the suitability of IMFApplication #2 for the French government's digitization program for past and current film catalogs. The paper was co-authored by Helt, Benoit Fevrier of EVS Media, Frantz Delbecque of clair Group, Xavier Brachet of Mikros Image, Hans-Nikolas Locher from the Commission Sup rieure Technique de l'Image et du Son, and Marc Bourhis of FICAM.

At booth #420, EVS Media will demonstrate MXF solutions that support a range of new format standards including XAVC as well as IMF Application #2. Attendees can also see how the latest version of the OpenCube HD/SD server handles the encoding of MXF 4K formats and transcoding from various formats including JPEG 2000, ProRes, AVC-I and DNxHD faster than real time.

The latest release of EVS Media's OpenCube toolset enables complete subtitle support including S436M track or .scc/.mcc generation at ingest. It also acts as a conversion tool to bridge these formats, and handles closed caption decoding with overlay for previewing and checking content.

EVS Media invites visitors to bring a USB key with their MXF files and play them using the self-service MXF UniReader. This will allow them to access the entire MXF file, including synchronized video, audio and subtitles, and entire sets of metadata.

Also at booth #420, EVS Entertainment will showcase the XS media production server and IPDirector suite of media production management applications. Designed specifically for studio applications, EVS' XS server helps simplify the transition to tapeless production. Featuring EVS' unique loop recording technology, it enables recording of multiple audio and video feeds, as well as control and playback operations. IPDirector provides complete control of productions, including ingest control, metadata management, on-the-fly editing and playout scheduling - all from a single interface.
