Netflix Hosts Over 30 Taiwanese Filmmakers for Innovative Production Workshop

Over 30 producers in Taiwan recently took part in a three-day workshop organized by Netflix, designed to promote experience-based learning and sharing industry best practices. The interactive workshop encouraged participants to explore ways to optimize existing production processes to better align with global standards.
Covering a comprehensive range of content production topics, the workshop curriculum included sessions on production workflow, legal and copyright management, production safety and financial management. Participants explored the intricacies of budgeting and scheduling for a Netflix series and planning for visual effects (VFX) production. Guest speakers from Netflix provided valuable insights into technical specifications, post-sound best practices, and music licensing and clearance guidelines, enriching creators' knowledge of industry-standard techniques and processes.
Group exercises were also designed to simulate real production challenges, with participants working in teams to schedule projects across various genres, including romantic comedies, workplace comedies, dark thrillers and sci-fi films. They also tried their hand at managing unexpected schedule changes in real-time, aimed at strengthening teamwork and enhancing their ability to tackle production hurdles.
With guidance shared by Netflix representatives from the production, post-production, content risk management sound and legal affairs teams, the workshop unpacked team dynamics and operational strategies, empowering Taiwanese filmmakers to further unlock their exceptional potential.
Yvonne Huang, producer of Us Without Sex, shared her insights: After participating in this workshop, I realized that Netflix's strength lies in the professionalism of its team. Throughout the courses, I felt that Netflix treats its partners with fairness and respect, fostering a true partnership with the production team. I also appreciated the timely support and tools provided when facing difficulties. I look forward to more learning opportunities in the future.
Johnny, line producer of Let's Talk About CHU, commented, I originally thought this would be a serious lecture, but it turned out to be so much fun! The process was direct and engaging, with excellent speakers and overall course design. I particularly enjoyed the group activities, which provided an inspiring opportunity to exchange ideas with industry peers. The session on budget planning was especially insightful and valuable. Thanks to Netflix's vibrant team for organizing such a great series of courses!

My favorite part was the course on the second day - it helped me resolve issues I'd often pondered in my past work, making communication between pre-production and post-production much smoother.
Taiwan remains a highly competitive market for film and television production. Uplevelling production processes and collaboration across the industry can act as a catalyst for growth - a primary goal of the workshop and a testament to Netflix's commitment to the local creative economy.
