Media releases - 0 First attachment named for Director s Attachment Scheme

The Australian Directors Guild (ADG) and Screen Australia today announced that West Australian director Grant Sputore will be the first attachment under the newly created Director's Attachment Scheme, an industry incentive for emerging feature film directors to develop their craft. Funded by Screen Australia and managed by the ADG, the scheme will provide three director's attachments annually on feature films.

Grant will be an attachment on Director Kriv Stenders' new film Kill Me Three Times, to be filmed in Western Australia.

Grant is the director of a number of award-winning commercials, music videos and short films. Born and raised in Perth, Grant studied at Curtin University before co-founding production company The Penguin Empire immediately after his graduation in 2006. The Penguin Empire has grown to become Western Australia's leading television commercial production company. Grant's commercial directing career to date has been short but highly successful. His work has featured as a finalist at AWARD (Australia's most prestigious advertising award show), was a Cannes contender in Campaign Brief and has won multiple awards at various Australian advertising award shows. Grant has previously been selected as one of the top 25 filmmaking talents to watch as part of the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards, and his critically acclaimed short film Legacy has screened at film festivals around the world.

Grant is currently in development on feature film The Decayed, with the support of Screen Australia and ScreenWest. The project has attracted an impressive producer team - Sue Taylor (The Tree, An Accidental Soldier) and Academy Award winner Edward Saxon (The Silence of the Lambs, Adaptation, Philadelphia).

"This is a great opportunity for an emerging director like myself to work on a feature film with one of Australia's best directors, said Grant.

Im really excited by the chance to get to know Kriv better, learn as much as I can and play a small part in the making of an exciting project like Kill Me Three Times.

The scheme will be launched by Kingston Anderson from the ADG at a special Q&A event in Perth on 20 June with Kriv Stenders.

Kill Me Three Times will start pre-production in Western Australia in July.
