Two Oceans Marathon: Live stream, start time results, route and more

The 2019 Two Oceans Marathon has had quite a few disruptions before the gun has even gone off. The route of the ultra event had to be changed due to the threat of protest action just one day before the event.

There has also been much consternation over the fact that the 2019 event won't be broadcast by the SABC.

The ultra-marathon, celebrating a milestone 50th anniversary has traditionally been screened live on SABC. But, due to financial troubles at the state broadcaster, the race will not be on TV. The good news, however, is that there will be a live stream available for free you can scroll down to watch it here.

Two Oceans Marathon 2019: Change of route details According to a statement released by race organisers on Friday morning, the decision to alter the route comes in the wake of a sobering meeting with the South African Police Services (SAPS).

During the priority meeting, credible concerns regarding runner safety were raised. All stakeholders in attendance were informed that the threat of disruptions along the Chapman's Peak section of the ultra-marathon route needed to be taken into account.

The official race Facebook page shared the following details about the route:

o Start - Corner of Newlands Main Road & Dean Street

o Main Road Southbound towards Fish Hoek circle

o At Fish Hoek traffic circle turn right into Kommetjie Road

o Carry on through Corsair Way

o Left into Frigate Crescent

o Right into Ou Kaapse Weg Extension

o Straight over Ou Kaapse Weg

o Left into Steenberg Road

o Continue straight into Orpen Road / Spaanschemat River Road

o Turn Left onto Ladies Mile Extension

o Straight over to Parish Road

o Turn Left onto Southern Cross Drive

o Right onto Rhodes Dr

o Left onto the M3 Northbound

o Take the UCT off ramp and Finish on the UCT Rugby Fields

Two Oceans Marathon start time This year's Two Oceans Marathon will start at 6:40 on Saturday, 20 April in Newlands Main Road and conclude 56km later on the University of Cape Town's fields. The ultra will be preceded by the half marathon which has a staggered start from 5:50 onwards.

Runners who fall out of the elite group can check their race results on the Two Oceans website.

The trail events were held on 19 April 2019. with Kane Reilly winning a third consecutive Two Oceans 24km Trail Race in the men's division while Cape Town athlete Daneil Feldmann won the women's event.
