AP expands Korean entertainment news content through collaboration with YTN

The Associated Press today announced a content collaboration with South Korean broadcaster YTN. AP clients can now access YTNs Korean video entertainment news with its extensive coverage of Korean Wave or Hallyu. This content will be available to all AP Video Hub subscribers.

YTN will be providing the latest Korean entertainment news reports covering music, film, TV, fashion and celebrity gossip. This will include coverage of Korean celebrities overseas as well as one-to-one celebrity interviews. YTN will also be providing news reports on Korean culture (often known as K-wave or Hallyu).

The service went live on April 1 with AP Video Hub subscribers able to access up to five new video clips per day. By collaborating with YTN, AP has been able to significantly expand the range of Asian video content that it provides through its relationships with Japans Aflo and Chinas Bon TV, which deliver a wide mixture of content from their respective countries.

Paul Shanley, director of business development and partnerships at AP, said: We all know that Korean entertainment has massive regional and global appeal. As a result, global audiences are also demanding Korean entertainment news content so that fans can keep up-to-date with all the latest celebrity news and gossip. By working with YTN, we are responding to feedback from our clients that they want a steady stream of easy-to-access Korean entertainment content.

AP Video Hub launched in 2012 to address the increase in demand from online publishers for video news.

The platform was an industry first, providing access to AP world news, entertainment, sport and lifestyle video, as well as combining breaking news with relevant footage from APs historic archive. The result was the development of richer online storytelling for online publishers, who do not usually have the technical infrastructure to handle satellite news feeds.
