NATIONAL AWARDS 2023 WINNER ANNOUNCED

LATVIA, ESTONIA & LITHUANIA REGIONAL WINNER ANNOUNCED

EXHIBITION: 14 APRIL 1 MAY 2023 | SOMERSET HOUSE, LONDON

The World Photography Organisation and Sony Europe are delighted to reveal Milda Vys niauskaite as Latvia, Estonia & Lithuania's National Award Regional winner, alongside the shortlist for the Sony World Photography Awards 2023.

The National Awards program is an initiative set up by the World Photography Organisation and Sony to support local photographic communities around the world, with 55 countries taking part this year.

Over 415,000 images from over 200 countries and territories were submitted to the Sony World Photography Awards 2023 and over 200,000 were entered to the Open competition (from which the National Awards winner was selected).

Milda Vys niauskaite won for Matthew, depicting one of her friends from New York on a visit to rural Lithuania, running around in the fields and connecting with a horse in a black-and-white portrait expressing serenity and a connection with nature.

Milda Vys niauskaite is a photographer from Lithuania, whose work explores topics of masculinity and what it means to be a man in a modern world, as well as social constructions around it.

Commenting on their win Vys niauskaite said: This means so much for me, I feel like my work has been noticed and I am grateful for that.'

As the regional National Award winner, Milda Vys niauskaite receives Sony digital imaging equipment and will be included in the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition and book.

The overall winners in the Student, Youth, Open and Professional competitions of the Sony World Photography Awards 2023 will be announced on 13 April 2023 and will go on display as part of the
