Sonic Mud Records announce remote collaboration platform

Put contributions from real musicians on your tracks remotely via the cloud!

Sonic Mud Records (SMR) is a startup company, founded just over a year ago to enable remote collaboration between its users and session musicians. Theyve created a website and cloud-based platform where you can exchange tracks and connect with other musicians who you think could contribute creatively to your songs and complete them to release standard. The service seems very flexible - you can do anything from engaging the services of a single session musician to play on your otherwise complete track to hiring complete backing bands of musicians, or choose production packages' which include the services of a music producer to assist with mixing and mastering, and a technical team to help realise your ideas.

The website is currently filling up with details of session musicians, including their musical styles, experience, biographies and past credits, so you can decide who fits your style of working. Once youve found the help youre looking for, you pay a fee to secure the services of the musicians youll be using. The fee varies depending on what youre hiring them to help you with; prices range from 100 pounds for a simple use of the platform, like hiring one of the musicians from the websites catalogue, to 1400 pounds for collaborations involving greater numbers of musicians and producers.

Once youve paid, you can then move to using SMRs dedicated cloud-based audio storage space to exchange files with your collaborator(s) and refine ideas. According to SMR, multiple collaborators can work on and communicate about a project simultaneously via the cloud platform, so your ideas can develop as they might between a band of musicians in a room, rather than contributions being added iteratively one at a time. If you wish, your project can even be assigned to a producer who will help you to complete your project, including final mixing and mastering.
