(08/06/2014) EVS, the leading provider of live video production systems, comes to Broadcast Asia with significant technology advancements across its market sectors.
EVS Sports debuts the enhanced XT3 media production server with built-in proxies, 4K zooming, live multi-angle review, and enhanced tools that can transform live sporting events EVS' LSM Connect touch-based tablet application enables comprehensive clip and playlist management, while Epsio FX allows the insertion of simple graphics and effects at the tap of a fingertip.
EVS' new C-Cast Xplore web-browsing interface provides immediate access to live multi-camera recording feeds and clips on XT servers, giving production teams unprecedented capability to work remotely, enhance content on the fly, and reduce the number of onsite production personnel.
At the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil, EVS is providing host broadcaster HBS with advanced technologies, including live multi-format production tools, central media exchange and multimedia distribution platforms. These solutions will enable HBS to make the best of the live action instantly available for production and distribution.
The sophisticated workflow will include 196 XT3 production servers across 12 different venues, providing extended live replay and other editing capabilities. Based on the implementation of C-Cast Xplore, offsite production teams will be able to to access all live feeds and clips created by onsite crews. More than 100 EVS IPDirector suites located in the International Broadcast Centre will be used to manage the ingest of live incoming feeds and provide access to the centralised FIFA Media Asset Exchange (FIFA MAX) server that will store match feeds, clips, highlights, pre-recorded content (city profiles, etc.) and other relevant data. The IPDirector suites will also be used for live event logging. Around 12 XT3 servers will handle 4,500 hours of content located on an EVS XStoreSAN. The FIFA Max centralised broadcast media server and EVS-enabled file-based media sharing systems will allow production teams at the IBC, as well as in their home-country headquarters, to access content for further editing and broadcast. MRLs will be able to browse, access and download the content made available to them using EVS' IPBrowse and IPWeb tools.
On behalf of FIFA, HBS is also delivering expanded and enhanced content services across all multimedia platforms for the 2014 FIFA World Cup . FIFA's Media Rights Licensees will have access to exclusive content for delivery to smartphones and tablets via their own second screen apps.
Based on EVS' C-Cast technology, the distribution platform will connect HBS' live production infrastructures to a central cloud-based platform, aggregating live streams, multi-angles clips, stats, and social network feeds. This content will then be distributed to affiliate broadcasters, who in turn can make it available to their own viewers.
Enabling flexible workflows for entertainment productions ranging from concerts and stage shows to reality TV, game and talk shows and TV series, EVS Entertainment will debut the next-generation XS production server with advanced multi-codec, native support including popular I-Frame formats (DNxHD, ProRes, AVC-I) and Long GOP (XDCAM HD), 12-channel live feed recording and streaming based on the new TwinRec mode, as well as powerful new 10GigE connectivity to facilitate media sharing operation with post production infrastructures. EVS will also be showcasing IPDirector's Cut, and IPLink for Adobe.
Shine Australia, one of the world's fastest-growing and most successful creators of media and entertainment brands, recently implemented an EVS-powered high-definition studio production workflow. Led by multiple XT3 advanced live production servers with new XDCAM HD capability and the comprehensive IPDirector production asset management suite, the system enables HD production of popular live programming such as The Voice, that requires massive amounts of content, while keeping data rates down, simplifying the production workflow, and providing streaming capabilities that save storage resources.
EVS Media will highlight enhanced ingest for mastering and archive, including any file type ingest with the OpenCubeHD/SD MXF server for streamlined file-based, multi-format workflows that comply with all standard formats. The file-based server provides an extended range of codecs and format support comprising H.264 AVC, XAVC, JPEG 2000 and MXF 4K. EVS Media will also present its latest closed captioning and subtitling solution, which includes S346M or .ssc/.mcc generation ingest.
EVS News will debut XS NewsFlash, a compact, cost-effective end-to-end solution that provides smaller newsroom environments with full production capabilities. Based on the robust XS server for ingest and playout, XS NewsFlash provides everything from file and feed ingest, metadata and quick-turnaround virtual editing to disaster recovery and fast-breaking news playout.
