Africa Mercy takes delivery of two new Fujifilm NX500 FDC Analysers

Fujifilm is a pioneer in diagnostic imaging and information systems for healthcare, with a range of constantly evolving, clinically proven, products and technologies designed to assist medical professionals perform efficiently and effectively. The company were delighted to recently supply the Africa Mercy with two state-of-the-art Fujifilm NX500 FDC Analysers.

Established in 1978, Mercy Ships provides free surgery and medical care to the worlds poorest people. The fleet have made 575 port visits in developing nations around the world, bringing lasting change to hundreds of thousands of lives.

The newest ship in the fleet, the Africa Mercy, has been dedicated to bringing healthcare and healing to the people of Africa since 2007, and is the worlds largest non-governmental hospital ship. It has five operating theatres, an 82-bed patient ward and accommodates a crew of 400 from 40 nations.

Commenting on their new Fujifilm NX500 FDC Analysers, Colleen Conley, Medical Laboratory Manager on-board Africa Mercy, said: "We had a very successful day setting up and training on the two new NX500 instruments in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. They've been a wonderful addition to the Africa Mercy lab. Thank you to all who participated with me in this acquisition and laboratory improvement - we are all very grateful!"

The Fujifilm NX500 provides laboratory diagnosis in minutes with a simple three-step procedure. It can automate various time-consuming dilution procedures done by hand, such as pipetting and mixing, by merely setting the dilution cup and dilution solution with a pre-set dilution ratio. It has multi-functional capability so many blood components can be tested, and calibration of each lot can be performed easily by reading the QC card.
