Oslo, Norway - 19 March, 2014 - Appear TV, a leading global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announced that it's provided an Appear TV XC series head-end for the internal distribution of TV signals for the public broadcaster Czech TV (Cesk televize).
The head-end receives DVB satellite signals and SDI internally from the Czech TV studios. The Appear TV head-end then prepares these signals for internal distribution to Czech TV employees.
We chose the Appear TV head-end because not only did it meet our exact technical requirements, but additionally it is capable of being modified to meet any changing requirements we may have moving forward, said Ivo Prochazka, Chief Engineer, Czech TV.
At the heart of the solution that Appear TV provided to Czech TV is the Appear TV XC series head-end solutions, designed following a modular head-end' philosophy to maximize functionality, customization and flexibility. The Appear TV head-end chassis' combine up-rated hot-swappable dual power supplies and enhanced cooling with advanced N 1, N M redundancy capability, improved statistical multiplexing and true multi-platform multicasting capabilities in a single open standard head-end managed by a single User Interface (UI).
The head-end we supplied to Czech TV includes Appear TV designed modules that handle the turnaround of DVB-S as well as the internal re-distribution over DVB-T, said Carl Walter Holst, CEO, Appear TV. The flexibility of our head-end design made it possible to provide Czech TV's and content acquisition and re-distribution system that exactly meets its needs as well as being adaptable moving forward.
