Story-telling contest held

The third "Dongqian Lake" Story-telling Contest was held at the Dongqian Lake recently, attracting 25 candidates for the first, second and third prizes. The Dongqian Lake Town Government, the Quyi Association of Yinzhou District and the Quyi Association of Xiangshan County are awarded the "distinctive organizing prize". The candidates winning the first and second prizes of the contest will be recommended to attend the 6th Zhejiang Provincial Story-telling Contest.

Sponsored by Ningbo Quyi Association, the Federation of Literary and Art Circles of Dongqian Lake Resort, and Dongqian Lake Town Government, the contest is mainly for the stories of the new heroes and their new deeds in the society besides the historical legends, celebrities stories, intangible cultural heritage and folk activities. Since August last year when the preparation activity of the contest started, the organizers have arranged the composition committee members and some performers conduct field inspections in the villages along the Dongqian Lake. In December 2016, at the story-assessment meeting, some experts reviewed the 36 shortlisted stories by 39 writers.

"Story telling is a basic skill of the performers and we hope to give them opportunities to create better stories to reflect the real life. The story-telling contest is sure to enrich the cultural content of the Dongqian Lake tourism with the insights into the historical culture and customs of the Dongqian Lake area. " said Weng Renkang, Vice-chairman of the Chinese Quyi Association and Vice-chairman of Zhejiang Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
