Arqiva celebrates connecting 2.5 million Smart Water Meters to its network

Through reliable connectivity and industry-leading levels of data completeness, Arqiva is helping water companies to meet regulatory targets and push for a water-secure future

Arqiva, the UK's largest provider of smart water metering networks, has successfully connected more than 2.5 million smart meters across its growing network. The milestone highlights the continued expansion of Arqivas smart network footprint, supporting some of the UKs largest water companies in modernising their operations, digitising the industry, and delivering long-term value to customers.

Arqiva's network plays a vital role in helping water companies achieve current targets on enhanced meter connectivity and data-driven performance. In turn, and along with the other sensor deployments Arqiva is developing, these will deliver the insights that enable them to achieve other critical targets.

Robust and reliable data is the starting point for water companies to educate their customers about the reality of water scarcity and encourage changes to water consumption habits. Smart water metering gives consumers better visibility of their water usage, enabling them to detect leaks early and take action, reduce waste, and potentially lower their bills.

The 2.5m meters have been deployed across Arqiva's increasing number of water company customers, including some of the largest operators by geographic region and population. By deploying tailored connectivity solutions, Arqiva has helped its customers overcome complex meter location challenges across diverse geographical environments. Installation and connection rates remain high across multiple regions, and Arqiva is committed to supporting ongoing investment in smart metering and the wider digitisation of water and wastewater networks.

Most recently, Arqiva has demonstrated its flexible approach with 36,000 LoRaWAN meters deployed for one customer, and successful trial NBIoT installations for another.
