Sonnet Technologies at the IBC0

At IBC2013, Sonnet will be the first to demonstrate industry-leading Thunderbolt(TM)-to-PCI Express(R) Card (PCIe(R)) expansion solutions equipped with the new, ultra-fast Thunderbolt 2 technology. Other featured products will include the Echo(TM) 15 Thunderbolt Docking Station, the Qio(TM) line of high-speed media readers with Thunderbolt interface options, and Fusion(TM) storage systems for video, broadcast, and audio professionals.

Echo(TM) Express Thunderbolt(TM) Expansion Family for PCI Express(R) Cards, Now Featuring Thunderbolt 2 Interfaces

Sonnets award-winning Echo(TM) Express family of Thunderbolt(TM)-to-PCI Express(R) Card (PCIe(R)) expansion chassis enables the use of a wide variety of high-performance PCIe cards with any Mac(R) computer with Thunderbolt ports. At IBC2013, Sonnet will demonstrate workflow solutions featuring pro cards from Avid(R), ATTO, AJA, Bluefish444, RED(R) Digital Cinema, Blackmagic Design, and Sonnet. The new Echo Express III-D desktop and Echo Express III-R rackmount chassis are the first to incorporate ultra-fast Thunderbolt 2 technology, which delivers twice the throughput of standard Thunderbolt. Each supports three single-width, full-length PCIe 2.0 cards; features a 300W power supply with a 75W auxiliary power connector for PCIe cards with higher power requirements; and integrates large, quiet cooling fans. With its companion Mobile Rack Kit, the Echo Express III-R enables users to install one or two mobile rack devices such as an LTO tape drive, shuttle drives, and memory card readers inside the Echo chassis. All Echo Express systems enable the use of compatible, professional video capture, audio interface, 8Gb Fibre Channel, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, SAS and SATA HBA, and RAID controller cards with iMac(R), Mac(R) mini, new Mac Pro(R), MacBook Air(R), and MacBook Pro(R) computers. Plus, these Echo Express chassis feature dual Thunderbolt 2 ports to support connection to new Thunderbolt 2-equipped host computers and daisy-chaining of other Thunderbolt devices.

xMac(TM) mini Server Family

Sonnets award-winning xMac(TM) mini Server and xMac mini Server 2H securely mount a Mac(R) mini inside a specially designed 1U rackmount enclosure and connect two PCI Express(R) (PCIe(R)) 2.0 slots -- with a 100W power supply for installed cards -- to enable users to harness the power of full-size pro video capture and processing, digital audio interface, DSP accelerator, FireWire(R), and RAID controller cards. Temperature-controlled fans deliver strategic airflow to cool the enclosure. Two Thunderbolt(TM) ports -- one to connect the PCIe slots to the Mac mini and a second for daisy-chaining other Thunderbolt devices -- are integrated. Panel-mount HDMI(R), Gigabit Ethernet, and two USB 3.0 cables are included to connect the ports on the back of the Mac mini to ports on the back of the xMac mini Server for convenient external connection.

Echo(TM) 15 Thunderbolt(TM) Dock

Sonnet will feature the Echo(TM) 15 Thunderbolt(TM) Dock, a fully featured docking station for computers with Thunderbolt ports. Sonnets latest Thunderbolt technology product features 15 ports: four USB 3.0, one Gigabit Ethernet, one FireWire(R) 800, one headphone, one microphone, one speaker, one audio in, one pass-through Thunderbolt (for either another Thunderbolt device or an external display), two 6Gb/s eSATA, and two internal SATA (one port for included optical disc drive and one 6Gb/s port for a user-installable 2.5-inch SSD or 3.5-inch hard drive). In addition, the Echo 15 Thunderbolt Dock includes the users choice of an 8x DVD RW drive or a Blu-ray(TM) BD-ROM/8x DVD RW drive with Blu-ray player software for OS X(R).

Qio(TM) Family of Professional Media Readers

Sonnet will feature its Qio(TM) line of desktop and portable professional, high-speed media readers, now available with new Thunderbolt interface options. The original Qio supports all major HD video memory card formats in one compact high-performance device, reading from just about any memory card -- SxS(TM), P2, CompactFlash(R), SDHC(TM) and SDXC(TM) -- at high speed. Sonnet will also highlight the Qio CF4 four-slot CompactFlash (CF) card reader, and the Qio E3 three-slot SxS card reader, both able to support concurrent file ingest from all slots. In addition, Sonnet will display the Qio MR, the first and only compact mobile rack device for PCs to support all major HD video memory card formats.

Tempo(TM) SSD and Tempo SSD Pro High-Performance 6Gb/s PCIe(R) 2.5-Inch SSD Cards

Sonnets Tempo(TM) SSD and Tempo SSD Pro are PCI Express(R) (PCIe(R)) 2.0 SATA cards to which one or two solid-state drives (SSDs) are directly attached, with the assembly installing neatly into a PCIe slot without the need for cables or brackets. Unlike other PCIe SSD cards, the Tempo SSD Pro and Tempo SSD utilize widely available 2.5-inch SATA SSDs (sold separately), giving users great flexibility in selecting the SSD capacity and performance that best suit their needs and budget, as well as the option to upgrade easily. Both cards support booting in Mac Pro(R) (early 2008 through mid-2012 models) and Windows(R) computers.

Presto(TM) 10GbE PCIe(R) Network Adapter Cards

Sonnets Presto(TM) 10GbE 1-Port and Presto 10GbE Server 2-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) PCI Express(R) (PCIe(R)) cards enable users to connect their computers and servers to high-speed infrastructure and storage systems using the 10GbE standard -- offering up to ten times the performance of Gigabit Ethernet. Both Presto 10GbE network adapters are low-profile x8 PCIe adapter cards that install easily into the PCIe slot of a computer or Thunderbolt(TM)-to-PCIe expansion chassis. The Presto 10GbE 1-Port card provides greatly enhanced performance for a wide variety of applications.
