DAZN has reportedly entered advanced negotiations to acquire BT Sport, with an agreement possible within weeks .

According to the FT, there is no certainty that a deal will be agreed, with the two companies in discussions over price and a licensing agreement.

BT has a cross-licensing deal with Sky which means that the satellite broadcaster would have to approve any potential deal, reports the newspaper.

Last week DAZN's chairman Kevin Mayer said the streaming company was possibly interested in buying the broadcaster.

It's well known within the industry that DAZN is looking to gain a foothold in the UK in terms of Premier League rights. Any potential deal with BT Sport would see it not only gain access to the EPL, but also UEFA's three competitions: Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference.

BT confirmed it was holding talks around a potential sale of its sports broadcasting arm in April. A number of companies have been rumoured as potential suitors but no deal has been announced so far.

BT and DAZN both declined to comment on the report.
