2fm announces Eoghan McDermott to present evening drive slot

23/06/2015 RT 2fm today announced presenter Eoghan McDermott is to move to the peaktime evening drive slot to present 2fms flagship show.

Eoghan will be taking 2fm listeners home each weekday with a difference with his unique style of presenting. 2fm listeners will be very familiar to listening to Eoghan as he has presented on the station across many parts of the schedule.

Eoghan McDermott completed his honours degree in Politics & Irish UCD, Eoghan moved to New York and enrolled in the world- famous Broadway Dance Centre, where he studied with some of the biggest names in dance, with the aim of becoming a commercial music video choreographer. Upon returning to Ireland, his dancing skills landed him the lead role of DJ Pete in TG4 s award winning drama series, Seacht', set in a performing Arts Academy. From here Eoghan was picked up by BBC Northern Ireland to present their chat/music show Imeall Geal. This also led him onto Pop4, TG4 s flagship pop music program, which he has presented for 3 seasons, as well as his own radio show on Dublin Hit station, Spin1038. Other UK credits include co-hosting of Loveboxx music festival with BBC Radio1 DJ Alice Levine, Sony entertainment series The Take Out with comedian Kathryn Ryan and Celebrity Super Spa for Channel5. His work in the UK brought him to the attention of RT bosses for their new series The Voice, where he beat off stiff competition to land to role of co-host, alongside Kathryn Thomas.

Commenting on his new role, Eoghan McDermott said: To be given a national platform with Ireland's most iconic station is a genuine honour. It's also a privilege to be handed the baton by the legendary Colm Hayes, one of the most recognizable voice in the country. I look forward to wooing the audience with my original beat poetry. Failing that, a socially reflective, big tune pumping, mischief-making hotpot is order of the day.

Head of 2fm, Dan Healy said: Eoghan McDermott is one of the country's up and coming radio presenters; he has presented on 2fm across many parts of the schedule our listeners reaction towards him was hugely positive and I feel that he will be a real asset to the 2fm team. Eoghan has proven himself both here and in the UK both on radio and TV. He is a dynamic and creative presenter and will build on the significant growth that Colm has already created within that slot.

Eoghan will start his new show on RT 2fm in September.
