Six South African highlights to stream on Showmax this November --

There s a wealth of local and lekker content coming to Showmax this November, from cooking shows to award-winning short films, reality TV to award-winning feature films. This includes:

iNumber Number: the film

Co-produced by Showmax and Mzansi Magic, the gritty spin-off series of iNumber Number has been a huge hit, trending repeatedly on social media. If youve just finished binge-watching the crime and corruption drama, its time to revisit the film that started it all. Directed by Donovan Marsh, iNumber Number won four SAFTAs in 2015 for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editor, not to mention the Audience Award at the Jozi Film Festival and Best Screenplay at the Africa International Film Festival. This South African classic was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Universal Pictures optioned the remake rights.

Silwerskerm short films

The best short films from this years Silwerskerm Film Festival are now available first and only on Showmax, from mystic fantasy to captivating crime dramas and side- splitting comedy. Look out for Soldaat, which won Best Short Film (24m) and Best Script for Amy Jephta.

While You Weren t Looking

Winner of four international awards, While You Werent Looking interweaves the lives and experiences of a cross section of Cape Town queers. Produced by the dearly missed Out in Africa Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, the star-studded cast includes the likes of SAFTA winners Lionel Newton (Jozi) and Thishiwe Ziqubu (Hard To Get), as well as SAFTA nominee Petronella Tshuma (Of Good Report). For the first time in SA television history, an exclusive food series is exploring the work and world of SA s first Michelin-star chef, Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen. In Jan, this culinary genius will show viewers how he combines French and South African cooking in his restaurant, JAN, in Nice, France.

The series premiered on Tuesday, 24 October 2007, on the Afrikaans lifestyle channel VIA (DStv channel 147) and is simultaneously available on Showmax. It s been hailed as a new level of Afrikaans food television by WatKykJy and a TV show that has us all drooling by GoodThingsGuy. New episodes appear weekly.

Boer Soek n Vrou

Finding love isn t as simple as planting corn, caring for cattle or keeping horses and it s this massive challenge that gets people hooked on Boer Soek n Vrou, kykNET s hit reality series. Mignon Mossie Van Wyk

Mossie is a teenage girl with a loving boyfriend and the future ahead of her. Yet life is more complicated than she thought when a new person enters her world. Winner of two international awards, Mignon Mossie van Wyk was directed by Darrell Roodt (Yesterday). Watch from 6 November 2017.

Also look out for Johannesburg-born actress Jessica Marais (Legend of the Seeker) starring in Magic City, alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Greys Anatomy, The Good Wife, The Walking Dead), Bond girl Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), and Danny Huston, who earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role as mob boss Ben Diamond.
