Satellite TV operator MultiChoice Africa has signed a long-standing agreement with Eutelsat, a leading communications satellites operator, ensuring that their DStv pay-TV platform continues to increase its reach in Africa over the next 15 years.

MultiChoice Africa has secured two transponders on the EUTELSAT 36A satellite, which reaches 38 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2015 a EUTELSAT 36C satellite which holds 15 Ku-band transponders will launch, allowing MultiChoice Africa use of this frequency spectrum. Following the launch, it plans to add an additional 11 transponders to its existing 25, acquiring sufficient bandwidth to accommodate new Standard Definition and High Definition channels and services.
