On November 13, the time has come to sign up for the Wings for Life World Run 2020. What happens when well over 100,000 people across the globe walk, run, and roll in wheelchairs at the same time for a great cause? Personal goals are reached, lifetime friendships are made and the world comes closer to finding a cure for spinal cord injury. Unlike a traditional race, the Wings for Life World Run finish line is mobile - and BEHIND the participants. The iconic Catcher Car starts its engine 30 minutes after the run begins, chasing down the runners one by one until the very last remains. Whether participants are looking to spend a fun day with friends or aiming to achieve high performance, the thrill of trying to stay ahead of the Catcher Car often motivates them to achieve more than they imagined.

The Wings for Life World Run takes place all over the globe, with participants of all endurance levels competing against the Catcher Car simultaneously. In an exhilarating experience, everyone is empowered to better the lives of those who are fighting spinal cord injury, and what they accomplish is something to celebrate. The run is the primary fundraiser for the Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation, and 100% of entry fees and donations goes directly to important spinal cord research projects, where real progress is happening.

Thanks to participation in a clinical trial funded by Wings for Life, Switzerlands David Mzee was able to take his first steps after being paralyzed for years. He subsequently joined the 2019 Wings for Life World Run, walking for 390 meters. I was so happy to step across the start line as part of the huge World Run community. Theres so much hope, and people love taking part, said Mzee. Theres much more to be done on the way to a cure, but I am proof that funding raised by this event is already changing lives.

On May 3, 2020, the run toward the next breakthrough will take off. Registration for the Wings for Life World Run is easy, and options are flexible. Some will participate shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands in a Flagship Run at a major international destination, where theyll be pursued by a real Catcher Car. Others will register for an App Run to be chased by a virtual Catcher Car anywhere they are. App Runs enable runners to set an individual course or be part of an organized App Run created for the camaraderie of a group event.

The run is livestreamed worldwide, and the vibe is purely positive: fun, togetherness and making a difference. Groups in creative costumes and surprises like marriage proposals add to the joy. The 2019 edition of the Wings for Life World Run included over 120,000 registered participants of 186 nationalities. Across 323 locations they collectively covered 1,103,276 km. And raised over 3.5 million euros for research toward a cure.
