MegaFon Deploys VCAS to Enable Integrated Multi-Network, Multi-Screen Protection for Premium Content ServicesCSTB 2013, Moscow, Jan. 25, 2013 -Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe,today announced the deployment of the multi-network Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) solution to secure MegaFon's combined IPTV and over-the-top (OTT) video services.
MegaFon, one of Russia's largest mobile network providers with more than 60 million active subscriber accounts, always strives to implement the most advanced services and technologies. With that commitment in mind, it recently chose to expand its offerings to include new interactive services enabled by IPTV. The company leveraged its IP-based network as the foundation of the deployment, and needed a robust content and revenue protection solution to secure video-on-demand (VoD) as well as live TV services delivery.
MegaFon's new offering was created and is being developed by MegaLabs, an arm of MegaFon focused specifically on launching and monetizing new products and technologies.
We chose to partner with Verimatrix for a multitude of reasons, including the companys stellar reputation for ensuring a smooth deployment and its excellent security track record, said Vitaly Starodubov, COO, MegaLabs. The VCAS platform plays an important role in our new video service offering, since it not only ensures that we are adequately protecting our existing premium content service offering, but it also gives us the flexibility to easily extend this revenue protection to any services that we may add in the future.
The company worked with Verimatrix to deploy VCAS solutions that offer proactive revenue security and integrated protection techniques for both managed and unmanaged delivery networks to PC, phone, tablet and set-top box (STB) devices.
VCAS for Internet TV provides an enhanced security solution for OTT services over networks using the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) adaptive protocol. It enables Megafon's OTT broadcast (linear) and VoD service delivery to a wide range of screen types over wired and wireless networks. Within the VCAS architecture, VCAS for Internet TV and VCAS for IPTV use a common rights management API to provide a single point of integration with business management systems that also enables super domain management across device types. When content is added to a subscriber's domain, it is automatically authorized for delivery to all the domain's devices, regardless of delivery network and CAS/DRM implementation.
