Aksel van der Wal Named Senior Vice President Finance, Turner EMEA -

Aksel van der Wal joins Turner International as Senior Vice President Finance Turner Broadcasting System Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) effective from January 20th 2014, it was announced today by Ray Hutton, EVP and CFO Turner Broadcasting International and Giorgio Stock, President Turner Broadcasting System EMEA.

Most recently Global Chief Executive Officer at Time Out, van der Wal takes on the role of Turner's EMEA head of finance to oversee the financial planning and analysis remit across Turner's Europe, Africa and Middle East footprint, encompassing Turner's diverse portfolio of news, kids and general entertainment brands. He is responsible for the region's financial growth planning and manages the commercial finance team across the EMEA business. Additionally, van der Wal will work closely with the Turner International Finance Accounting management team to leverage skills and competencies within the Company for regional business needs as appropriate.

Van der Wal joins Turner in London after a three-year tenure at Time Out where his leadership of its global operation embraced digital expansion, new e-commerce operations and the revitalization of its traditional businesses. Prior to Time Out, he was CFO at leading online ticket exchange operation Seatwave, and previously held senior financial and business development roles at Vodafone. He started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Van der Wal has an MBA from INSEAD, and a LLM tax law from Leiden University, Netherlands. A native Dutch speaker and fluent in English, he also speaks German, French and Spanish.
