Netflix: Animated kids movies available in South Africa [April 2019]

While Netflix doesn't officially report on how many subscribers it has in South Africa, estimates range from around 150 000 to over 300 000. Because one account can have multiple users, the exact figure is difficult to pinpoint, though.

What we do know is that Netflix is growing substantially. With internet access increasing and data becoming a tad more affordable, more and more people are turning to streaming services to get their entertainment.

There are thousands of TV shows and movies to choose from, so we're trying to break it down for you, just a bit.

Whizzing through that search screen can feel like an endless struggle. So, if you're looking for something to distract the kids with, we've compiled this handy list of animated movies available on Netflix South Africa.

If you're looking for some distinctly local flavour, Netflix has got that, too. Well, they've got it in the works anyway.

Earlier in 2019, Netflix announced its first original African animated series, Mama K's Team 4, produced by Cape Town-based Triggerfish Animation Studios and leading London-based kids' entertainment specialist CAKE.

The show was created by Zambian writer Malenga Mulendema, who was one of eight winners in the Triggerfish Story Lab initiative in 2015, a pan-African talent search.

The official release date for that series has not been announced yet, so, for now, let's take a look at the animated movies available on Netflix South Africa.
