Free acce of freeway launched during the Spring Festival period

With the agreeable weather during the first three days of the new lunar year, the nine freeways in Ningbo witnessed a smooth traffic. According to the statistics from Ningbo Road Bureau on February 10, from 0 oclock of February 7 to 16 oclock of February 10, over 650,000 cars have enjoyed the free access of the freeways.

On the first day of the seven-day National Day holiday, there are usually some blocks at certain sections of the freeways, however, it is not the case for the Spring Festival holiday. During the past four days, the traffic of the freeways in Ningbo was well under control, with only very short traffic peaks at 11am and 4pm.

Statistics show that on February 7, a total of 122,000 vehicles passed the Toll Gates, with 102,000 small cars going out. On February 8, the total number increased to 366,300, with 194,500 small cars going out. On February 9, there were 428,000 vehicles, with 214,000 small cars going out. Then on February 10, by 4pm, the total number of the vehicles has reached 313,100, with 143,900 small cars going out.

It is reported that from 10am of February 10, due to a traffic accident, the 1563K (from Ningbo to Taizhou) section of the G15 Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Freeway witnessed a slow passage, and the Ninghai Entry and the North Ninghai Entry were closed temporarily, and at 11:25, the traffic returned to its normal state. At 10:05, the western section of the G1501 Ningbo Ring Freeway was affected by the accident at the ramp section from Chaoyang to Jinhua before the traffic returned to normal at 10:55.

On February 9, a congestion occurred at the Xiangshan Port Bridge of the S19 Freeway. Due to a car accident at the Jiaodongao Tunnel (from Ningbo to Xiangshan), the traffic slowed down from 10:50 to 12:00. Then at 11:00, an accident near the Dongqiao Exit of the G1512 Ningbo-Jinhua Freeway affected the traffic on the road, and the traffic returned to its normal state at 12:00.

The Xiangshan Port Bridge and the Hangzhou Bay Bridge didnt witness congestion during the first four days of the holiday. In accordance with the traditional customs, in the following days of the holiday, many people will conduct self-driving tours. The road administrative departments predict that with the self-driving tour vehicles and the returning traffic peak, the vehicle flow of the freeways on February 11 and 12 will continue to grow, and thus some tunnels and bridges will witness slow traffic then.
