Blackbird: a before and an after in the production vehicles Epic Games aims to revolutionize the production of spots and movies involving vehicles rolled through a "auto-plataforma" that will fit like a glove with any car in post-production.

Epic Games, developer of the popular engine for Unreal Engine games, is now ready to apply its technology in film and advertising production. The company surprised NAB 2017 with the presentation of Blackbird, a "auto-plataforma" that aims to revolutionize the filming with vehicles.

Usually, filming with cars tend to assume a great complexity due to the speed of the vehicle, the points of focus, reflections..., and in the case of advertising productions own availability of the final model for use in the spot or the need to have cars with different finishes.

Now, thanks to Blackbird and engine Unreal Engine, Epic Games in collaboration with The Mill, JemFX, Performance Filmworks and Keslow producers, will make it possible to develop ambitious projects with vehicles.

Blackbird is a "auto-plataforma" that allows to adjust their chassis so that it matches the length and the exact width of almost any car, which allows recording at anytime, anywhere, without the need of the real car. With an electric motor, the Blackbird can be programmed to mimic the acceleration and displacement of any car, as well as providing an adjustable suspension to change height, stiffness and damping, replicating the features of the vehicle to imitate.

The vehicle, which seems removed from Mad Max with QR codes, it is able to capture high quality images and data through a set of cameras and sensors. La ventaja del uso de Unreal Engine es que tanto el director como el director de fotograf a podr n realizar ajustes optimizados ajust ndose al resultado final durante la propia grabaci n.

Este interesante desarrollo se ha empleado por vez primera en The Human Race, un corto comercial producido por The Mill para Chevrolet.
