Aiming to capture the importance of conservation, 20-year-old photographer and filmmaker Will Nicholls embarked on a trip to the Peruvian rainforest to document its regenerating areas and wildlife.

There are a number of things that make filming in the Peruvian rainforest a challenge. It's hot, its humid, the terrain is uneven and light levels are hugely variable. Anyone looking to emerge from the jungle with good quality footage needs gear and power sources that are durable, reliable and versatile.This is why Will Nicholls opted for Anton/Bauer's Digital Series 90Wh V-mount battery during a two-month shoot. Aiming to document regenerating areas and wildlife, Will needed to be able to film during night and day. He chose to use a Litepanels ASTRA 1x1 Bi-color panel, and by pairing it with the Digital 90 he knew he could work uninterrupted for hours. I needed a battery that would keep everything charged for extended periods of time, he said. I also needed something that was going to be durable and could work in a humid environment.

No need to compromiseThe Digital 90 is designed to work in the most demanding environments, so Will was not worried about the battery being able to handle 90% humidity. But as the shoot went on, it was the little details that began to stand out. In particular, the battery's easy-to-read LCD display was really useful. It tells you exactly how much time it can run with the power that's being taken from it, which is a handy feature when you're working all day in the middle of the rainforest. And there was usually a lot of power. The 90Wh battery meant that Will could spend over eight hours a day shooting the huge diversity of life in the rainforests of Peru. With the knowledge that he wouldn't lose power in the middle of production he was able to follow his instincts and take his time to make sure he got the best results.

I found that I didn't need to compromise or adjust the lighting to compensate for lack of power. In that kind of environment, most batteries wouldn't have held up, but the Anton/Bauer batteries lasted ages.
