Grass Valley webinar to explain how SDN simplifies SDI to IP migration --

The swift expansion of channels and diversification of media in the last few years are challenging current broadcast infrastructures. The increasing bandwidth demands of new viewing paradigms such as 4K, HDR, HFR and even 8K, along with the desire to be agile and scalable are putting increasing pressure on the limitations of SDI. The rapid progression of bandwidth and the increasing speed capability of IP technology are reaching a point where the potential benefits to the broadcast domain are hard to ignore.
However, SDI is the backbone of our infrastructures, providing standards and behaviors that meet the specific needs of broadcast environments. SDI and its benefits cannot be easily tossed aside as IP makes its way into our facilities. How can broadcasters maintain SDI where needed yet take the steps necessary to begin a migration to IP?
The upcoming Grass Valley webinar taking place on Tuesday, 16 June 2015 will cover what Software Defined Networking (SDN) is and how it can be used to simplify the migration to IP while still maintaining control of the SDI infrastructure. The presenters will explain how using a control system with SDN can utilise familiar workflows, making the migration transparent to the operators. The webinar will also cover the challenges and concerns as well as the benefits of using a unified, SDI and IP control solution.
