London, Wednesday 5th May 2021 UKTV today announces it has commissioned David Mitchells brand-new comedy entertainment series Outsiders (6 x 60) for Dave. Co-developed by Mitchell and Renegade Pictures, Outsiders sees David challenge a returning cast of three pairs of comedians to prove theyve got the mettle and skills to thrive in the great outdoors. Outsiders is produced by Renegade Pictures and will air on Dave later this year.
David Mitchell said,
Civilisation is clearly crumbling so its high time we worked out whether we can cope without it. And if you can think of a better way of doing that than making six comedians learn survival skills, then you werent involved in the development process of this programme.
The competing comedians will be Toussaint Douglass, Ed Gamble, Kerry Godliman, Jessica Knappett, Jamali Maddix and Lou Sanders.
Outsiders is commissioned for UKTV by Hilary Rosen, deputy director of commissioning, and Mark Iddon, commissioning editor, and ordered by Steve North, genre general manager, comedy and entertainment. Richard Watsham is director of commissioning. The format was co-developed by Renegade Pictures head of development Leon Wilde who is exec producing with Harry Lansdown, Victoria Payne is series producer and Graham Proud is series director.

Its a huge pleasure to welcome David to the channel. After a year of being locked up at home were looking forward to seeing David throw our teams of Outsiders back to nature to see if our comics can rise to the many challenges he will set them.

David Mitchell is someone weve wanted to work with on Dave at the channel for a very long time. Outsiders is sure to be a brilliant addition to the channels biggest ever slate of new shows that were announcing today.
Harry Lansdown, director of programmes, Renegade Pictures, said,
We are all excited to see how our comedians will fare, living together deep in the forest, under Davids iron rule, and without an Uber or Deliveroo in sight.
Outsiders joins a swathe of brand new original comedy entertainment programming announced today that is coming to Dave this year. Richard Ayoades Question Team, Tom Allens The Island, and British As Folk, with Fern Brady, Darren Harriott and Ivo Graham will all air later in the year, as well as a third series of Meet The Richardsons, a second and third series of Comedians Giving Lectures, hosted by Sara Pascoe, and a new run of Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled. Next month, BAFTA-nominated Big Zuus Big Eats and scripted sitcom Sliced will return for their second series.
