On October 16, 2014, Syn.alliance was established in conjunction with the launch of the Syn. concept, which aims to create a new mobile Internet experience. The new alliance, which includes 12 Internet service companies involved in establishing the Syn. concept, was formed for the purpose of implementing the concept.

Syn.alliance includes major Internet service companies that span a variety of genres. The services offered by the member companies are enjoyed by more than 41 million users per month [1], giving Syn.alliance one of the largest user bases in Japan [2].

Syn. rolled out its initial services on October 16, 2014 with the launch of Syn.menu, a shared side navigation bar that provides access to 13 services (including apps and web services) from the Syn.alliance member companies and achieves a seamless transition between each service. Syn.ad, a new advertising menu that is displayed within Syn.menu, was also launched.

In an era of widespread smartphone usage, the Syn. concept aims to add value to the smartphone experience by establishing a decentralized web portal in which all of the services function as entrances. The concept aims to double the value of the smartphone experience by enabling users to discover new services on the mobile Internet, and by establishing connections between the various services that encourage even further discovery of new services.

Moving forward, we will continue working to improve the convenience of the customers smartphone experience by further strengthening partnerships with quality services, and by providing new services that bolster the links between each service.
