ITV launches new social action campaign

On Thursday 3rd October This Morning will celebrate its Silver Anniversary by returning to its Liverpool location for a of mix of surprises and guest appearances - including original hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan during the live two hour programme.

For the anniversary ITV wanted to do something special, giving our viewers the opportunity to become part of our legacy and highlight real people and their community spirit that is often such an important part of the show.

From Monday the 9th of September, in the build up to the anniversary programme, ITV will be aiming to inspire at least 50,000 people to complete a small meaningful act of kindness and give something back to their local community through our Take a Moment campaign.

Over the month, a host of ITV shows and celebrity faces will be on board to show what they've done as an act of kindness and encouraging others to do something similar and become #MomentMakers themselves. ITV will be looking to showcase on-air, and on social media how a small meaningful moment of kindness can make a significant impact on another person's life or their local community.

Our ambition is to reveal a digital Wall of Fame' full of Moment Makers during This Morning's anniversary week, recognising the kindness our viewers have shown and celebrating what we can achieve as a nation collectively.

The call to action will be simple - pledge a small meaningful act of kindness on our specially designed online form so ITV can celebrate and share the good our viewers are doing.

To give viewers an added incentive, the Government will be donating £5 to charity for each of the first 50,000 meaningful acts shared with us. Therefore, not only will participants be helping others directly through their act, but they'll also be helping to raise donations for ITV's charity appeal Text Santa, whose six chosen charities provide practical help and support to people in need across the UK.

ITVs Take a Moment campaign aims to raise awareness around social action and volunteering. The aspiration is to use the power of ITV's reach, and our strong national and regional presence, to encourage social action and to raise awareness of the volunteering opportunities available to people right on their doorstep.

Nick Hurd, Minister for Civil Society said,

There are lots of easy ways to give your time to help others from having a cup of tea with an older neighbour, to helping out in your local area or making a regular commitment to volunteer with a charity or community group. That's why the Government are supporting Take A Moment by pledging £5 for the first 50,000 acts of kindness registered through the This Morning' campaign. We hope that this campaign can help raise awareness and encouraging people to get involved.

Through the campaign ITV will be highlighting to Moment Makers, organisations such as Do-it', Join in and Local Giving, which provide easy access to local volunteering opportunities.
