An exciting future for Object Matrix & DataCore

I'm off to Hollywood!

Well the Hollywood Professional Association Tech Retreat and that's twice as cool (if you like the media industry and technology). So here goes for Back to the Future .

Recent History

Object Matrix was recently acquired by DataCore, a company with the values that we have: disruptive technology, continuous innovation, managing data (with tech) so you don't have to (with your time), connecting people with media and doing all of that with a secret ingredient: community.

But these synergies alone don't explain everything about why Object Matrix and DataCore came together. That nugget of truth lies in the aforementioned future .

And Back

You see - there is a lot of work to be done because the options largely aren't working for the industry.

Since I've been in computing (and that is over 35 years now!) I've heard the same stories over and over. You know them as well:

Tie-in contracts: it was the previous IT guy, it isn't my fault but we are stuck

Proprietary formats or databases: I can't migrate. I don't have the time. We'll have to renew.

Non-compatible: your certification only works with v2.20.101.50.1 not with v2.20.101.50.2

Eye watering fees: $160k to download 100TB of data

Data loss: I couldn't afford to keep it, so I wiped it

Data access issues: my app is here, but the data is there

Security issues: ransomware the bogeyman that truly exists

Have I missed any?

And despite magic Mr. Cloud coming along, we largely live with the same problems.

To the Future

DataCore - pioneers in Software-Defined Storage Solutions for SAN.

Object Matrix - pioneers in object storage.

Both have radically great solutions TODAY for nailing media storage.

But this marriage will not stop with where we are now. It is going to be disruptive. VERY disruptive.

At HPA I am hugely looking forward to:

Listening to the CTOs and technologists at the frontend of handling media; knowing what is holding you back

Presenting why Object Matrix/DataCore have the best media storage solutions on the market today

And discussing some compelling reasons why things are going to get exciting in this space in the years to come

And all, I promise, whilst leaving my Michael J. Fox accent at home
