Former Rhythm City actor Sello Motloung has joined SABC3's soapie The Estate to play the role of self-made millionaire Elias Nkosi.

Elias Nkosi is a loving and caring family man, father to Ayanda (Maxx Moticoe), and a friend to Muzi (Sdumo Mtshali).

The veteran actor told Daily Sun that the auditioning process for the role was pretty lengthy and that he was relieved to get the callback.

Role with a difference for Sello Motloung Motloung, who is notorious for playing mean characters, stated that his new role is unlike his previous roles.

The character is Zulu speaking and I'm Sotho, so there was that challenge because I needed to ensure that I do justice to the language and the pronunciation, he told Daily Sun.

Luckily for me, I had an amazing team and they assisted me a lot. You wouldn't even tell that I am not Zulu speaking person.

MOTLOUNG'S PREVIOUS TV ROLES Motloung is best known for his role as Puleng's (Tebogo Khalo) father in Rhythm City, and Mpumi in the e.tv soapie Backstage.

He has also appeared in Isidingo as Bazooka, in After Nine as Kutloano, and played the lead role on SABC1's Christmas Eve film called Second Chance.

His fans will also recall him in Nna Sajene Kokobela, Generations, Madam and Eve, Soul City, Scoop Schoombie, Justice for All, Orlando, Secret in my Bosom, Milestone, and many more.

BACKGROUND OF THE ESTATE The Estate replaced Isidingo this year (March) and is currently watched by 503 000 viewers on SABC3 (now known as S3).

It competes with M-Net's Legacy which is created by the multi-award-winning production company Tshedza Pictures.

The soapies tackled issues such as corruption, land, identity as well as class, and equality.

The Estate is produced by Clive Morris Productions who are responsible for shows such as Broken Vows, Isono, and Ashes-to-Ashes.
