PlayBox Neo Stand 7.C29 IBC2026 - 11 14 September
Well-established global specialists in media playout, automation, and streaming solutions, PlayBox Neo shakes things up this IBC by revealing the latest advancements in its award-winning PlayBox Neo Suite and integrated range of media solutions at Stand 7.C29 from 11 - 14 September.
At IBC, to spice things up, PlayBox Neo presents a series of state-of-the-art enhancements designed to build better-connected and scalable multi-user and complex media environments with reinforced security. PlayBox Neo will shine a spotlight on how broadcasters and media organisations can operate more efficiently in the current hybrid environments across cloud, IP-based and on-premises workflows.
A noteworthy advancement for IBC includes the role-based user management system, allowing administrators to define access to specific functions and toolsets within the PlayBox Neo Suite platform. This additional feature helps improve security, accountability, and daily workflow transparency in demanding production settings where multiple users, editors, and engineers operate at the same time.
PlayBox Neo now also supports integration with Active Directory via LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) with SSL encryption which allows companies to manage user logins and permissions through their existing IT system, as opposed to maintaining separate credentials. The advantages include simplified user management, alignment with enterprise-level IT standards, and reinforced security which is crucial as broadcast operations become part of much larger corporate networks.
In time for IBC, a brand new streaming multiviewer UI has been implemented for built-in users support resulting in a much faster load time, with a preview window that can be resized for larger resolutions and high performance renders. Performance improvements include the optimisation of the PlayBox Neo Multiviewer reducing bandwidth usage to 30% which dramatically impacts teams working remotely in production or cloud scenarios, where bandwidth is limited or very expensive. By lowering data demands without compromising video quality, the system enables much more stable monitoring, faster response rates, and lower operational overheads.
In addition, PlayBox Neo expanded its support for EditShare for collaborative editing including shared storage and media asset management. This integration ensures media files are constantly identified and tracked across various systems that include playout servers, newsroom software, and automation.
Operations have been streamlined further owing to upgrades to the PlayBox Neo Ingest workflow. Media is now automatically registered and made available for editing while being recorded during ingest, rather than waiting until the process is complete. This significantly reduces turnaround time, allowing teams to edit, produce, and deliver content much faster which is critical for the sports coverage and live news. When the ingest process has finished, the ready media is automatically registered in EditShare for further use, and if configured for proxy generation, it will automatically be registered as well, allowing for media and its proxy to be available seconds after ingesting ends.
PlayBox Neo now supports the AJA KONA IP25 IP converter card, enabling compatibility with SMPTE ST 2110. This upgrade positions PlayBox Neo for seamless integration into next-generation broadcast environments, delivering high-quality, low-latency video with greater flexibility. Support for SMPTE ST 2022-7 further enhances reliability by ensuring uninterrupted signal delivery, even in the event of network issues.
Furthermore, the Input Time Delay allows any PlayBox Neo Suite input to be delayed multiple times (commencing from 1 second and limited by systems storage capacity). The Time Delay function records and replays video, audio and ancillary data from the source, with outputs sent to SDI, NDI, TS Encoder or as Live to AirBox Neo. Owing to the large size of uncompressed video, PlayBox Neo selects the H264 intra profile as compression, and lossless audio encoder for audio in order to reduce storage subsystem usage. All ancillary data such as SDI VANC/HANC received from the input device are also all recorded.
Other updates include the new AirBox Neo Plug-in with the AirBox Neo Complex item now able to be controlled through Neo Triggers. Also new for IBC is support for physical and virtual GPI (General Purpose Interface). Traditionally, GPI allows external hardware, such as control panels to trigger actions within a broadcast system. By also supporting virtual GPI, PlayBox Neo enables these triggers to be handled through software, making it easier to integrate with cloud-based or automated workflows. This added flexibility helps organisations adapt without being tied to specific hardware set-ups.
PlayBox Neo's latest developments demonstrated at IBC this year, revolutionise how companies can work more efficiently. We design technology to suit our customer requirements, by providing a proactive approach in offering advanced workflow solutions that propel businesses to operate cost-effectively to suit all media environments, irrespective of their complexity, remarked Pavlin Rahnev, founder and CEO of PlayBox Neo, We encourage visitors to come over and talk to us at stand C29 in Hall 7 at IBC and see for themselves how we are transforming businesses for maximum efficiency, and how we can help them too.
PlayBox Neo manages the entire workflow from ingest, asset management, graphics creation, titling, subtitling, ad insertion, and scheduling through to playout. PlayBox Neo solutions can easily be customised to provide the precise capability required for any scale of channel playout management. With modular platform design, PlayBox Neo's technology gives room for further
