Bristol, UK, June 3, 2016: Vidcheck announces new additions to its sales team plus the promotion of Joseph Newcombe and David Kicks. These new appointments are being made in response to rapidly rising demand, both in Europe and North America, for the companys range of advanced applications to check and correct file-based video and audio content.
Having previously held a senior sale role for digital copyright specialist Web Sheriff, including responsibility for London-based sales and subsequently establishing the companys New York office, Joseph Newcombe joined Vidcheck two years ago as European Sales Manager. He proved very successful in this role and was given additional responsibility Vidchecks USA sales in 2015. He has now been promoted to Global Sales Manager, supervising a newly expanded team of sales specialists addressing specific market regions and reporting to COO Howard Twine.
David Kicks joined Vidcheck in August 2015 as US Account Manager following a long and distinguished broadcast industry career with Pro-Bel/Chyron/Snell. He started in an engineering role at Pro-Bel in 1980, moving into sales in 1992. He relocated from the UK to the US in 2004 as Midwest Sales Manager for Pro-Bel followed by six years with Snell. Based in Indianapolis, he is promoted to Vidcheck Sales Manager for the USA and Canada.
A new addition to the Vidcheck team, Galo Puerta joins as Sales Manager for Europe. His broadcast industry career began 30 years ago as a researcher in the sports departments of Radio Caracas TV and Venezolana de TV, Venezuela. He progressed into programme production before relocating to Europe in 1996 where he specialised in sports television rights as MD of EP Media Management GmbH before establishing a sports-related consultancy.
Another new addition, Sarah Thomas, joins Vidcheck to manage Internal Sales. Her career began in 2000 with roles in sales administration, project estimation and technical administration for local Bristol-based companies, including public companies.
Vidcheck is in the enviable position of being both the primary innovator in its field and having exactly the right products the broadcast media markets need as the industry moves to file-based production, postproduction and content distribution, Joe Newcombe comments. We have a uniquely talented team of software designers, now matched by a first-rate sales team. I look forward to working with David, Galo and Sarah as we reach out to an ever wider customer base.
Broadcasters throughout the world now recognise both the technical and commercial benefits of file-based content creation, manipulation and distribution, adds Howard Twine. Vidchecks products extend those benefits into the realm of quality assurance, allowing a huge increase in productivity at a time when programme producers, rights owners, television channel managers and playout service providers are all looking to maximise the efficiency of their workflows and business processes.
Designed for checking and repairing file-based video, audio and related metadata before and after distribution, Vidchecker is also used to ensure that the metadata, video and audio parameters and levels of media files received by broadcasters from postproduction companies and content owners are correct for general transmission. Vidchecker provides a highly efficient server-based alternative to checking conformance by eye and hand. Vidchecker can automatically and intelligently correct video and audio levels, including peak audio attenuation, and perform automatic video segment detection. Sub-SD, SD, HD, UHD, 4K, 8K and mixed workflows are supported. Alerts can be accessed in practically any language. The Vidchecker GUI is accessed through a web browser either on the local machine or remotely over a network. Automated error correction options mean that detection and correction can be combined in a single uniquely powerful application.
Vidchecker-post is a version of Vidchecker designed for low-volume users such as postproduction houses, content distributors and smaller broadcasters who do not have the file-testing throughput requirements of larger companies. Like Vidchecker, Vidchecker-post is easy to install and use, performing thorough checks of video and audio parameters, and checking video and audio quality. It intelligently corrects video luma, chroma and RGB components, and conforms audio peak and audio loudness levels to ATSC/CALM and EBU requirements.
