Employee Spotlight Ernie Beckwith Software Developer Beckwith joined the Myers team to be the technical lead in the development and transition of ProTrack to the new technology stack. His previous programming experience combined with leadership expertise, made him the perfect candidate to manage a small team of developers working exclusively in the new platform.
As Myers embarks on a new technology paradigm shift in ProTrack, first with the roll-out of A/R, and next with ProTrack 6.08, Ernie Beckwith joined the Development team as the technical lead in the new technology stack.
Beckwith has had a keen interest in computers since high school. He began his studies majoring in Business. This changed, however, as he realized he could turn his hobby of coding into a full-time endeavor. Beckwith changed his major, and graduated from UMass Amherst with a BS in Computer Science.
From there, he worked in the IT Department at Berkshire Gas as a programmer and application analyst, maintaining customer and financial systems. Next, he went onto Lexmark Enterprise Software (formerly known as Perceptive Software and Nolij Corporation). There, he was a software engineer building enterprise level document imaging and ETL tools for higher education. He also led a small team and managed the agile process, resources and design decisions.
Concurrently, Myers began the transition process to a new technology stack, with a Java, Spring, and JPA back-end and an HTML5 front-end. Beckwith's experience with this platform in his former role, and his experience as team lead, poised him as the perfect candidate to be the technical lead in the new technology stack, and manage a small team of developers working exclusively in the new platform.
With Beckwith on-board, the Myers development team, led by CTO Tracy Carter, ramped up the release of its new A/R (Accounts Receivable) module. A/R was the first module released using the new technology stack and web front-end. This new technology platform with an HTML5 front-end presents a brand new user experience for ProTrack users, said Beckwith.
After the successful launch of A/R, Beckwith is presently focusing on ProTrack 6.08 which will be rolling out a sales module built with the new technology. Regarding 6.08, Beckwith is primarily focused on coding in Java, however, he's also involved in architecture decisions, gathering specs and managing the time and tasks of the other developers devoted to the new technology stack.
I'm extremely excited to roll-out a major component of ProTrack into our new technology, for the increased functionality, efficiencies and usability for our client-base.
Beckwith lives in Dalton, MA, and enjoys spending time with his family, reading comic books, watching Netflix, and keeping up-to-date on the latest web technologies.
