Daktronics announced that the Dayton Dragons and their new ownership group, Palisades Arcadia Baseball, have selected the company to design, manufacture, and install one of the first 13HD video displays to come to the minor leagues. Third Fifth Field in Dayton, Ohio, will receive the 2,050-square-foot display prior the start of the 2015 baseball season. And, coming in 2015, Omaha baseball fans will have extra reason for excitement as Sarpy County and the Omaha Storm Chasers have selected Daktronics to design, manufacture, and install a new LED video display for Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska.
Only three of the 30 major league stadiums and only eight of the 31 professional football stadiums will feature 13HD LED technology in 2015.
The video board at Fifth Third Field is so very critical to the Dayton Dragons entertainment experience, noted Dragons team president, Robert Murphy. To be able to enhance and improve the experience for our fans is very exciting.
This new display will measure approximately 35 feet high at its tallest point by 65 feet wide at its widest point as it is not a standard rectangle shape. The tallest and widest display in Single-A baseball - second tallest and widest of any stadium below Triple-A level - will feature the 13HD pixel layout to provide HD quality imagery for the clearest picture of any display in the minor leagues. This display will be three times brighter than the previous display to cut through the sunlight and bring a noticeable enhancement to day games.
Compared to the previous display, this new installation will feature five times more display area, 16 times as many LEDs, twice the height, and two and a half times the width.
It will include variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image or be segmented into multiple different zones for the flexibility to highlight any combination of live video, instant replays, scoring information, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsor messaging. It will also incorporate industry-leading environmental protection and wide angle visibility to appeal to every seat in the stadium.
This installation will build on a partnership that spans more than a decade and we're honored the Dayton Dragons have turned to Daktronics once again for their video display needs, said Daktronics National Sales Manager Will Ellerbruch. As one of the first of its kind at the minor league level, this display will have a major impact as it enhances the fan experience at every game. We're excited to see the display up and running for their first game in 2015.
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come. As an industry leader with 30 percent market share worldwide as reported by independent research firm IHS iSuppli, Daktronics products are featured in more than two-thirds of professional baseball (25 of 30) and professional football (26 of 31) stadiums.
The Storm Chasers will be one the first teams in the minor leagues to receive a new display in 2015 that will feature a 13HD pixel layout. It will measure approximately 25 feet high by 45.5 feet wide for a more than 50% increase in size over the previous display. It will provide excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility to appeal to every seat in the stadium while also incorporating industry-leading environmental protection.
We are excited to be investing in our new state-of-the-art video board from Daktronics. To be able to deliver this on the heels of Back-to-Back Triple-A National Championships, and leading into the First National Bank 2015 All Star Game this July, is fantastic, said Gary Green, Owner and CEO for the Omaha Storm Chasers. Werner Park will continue to be viewed as a premier venue and we are looking forward to our fans enjoying their in-game experience even more thanks to Daktronics!
The display will feature variable content zoning which allows it to show on large image across the entire display or it can also be separated into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, scoring information and statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsor messages.
Daktronics is excited to partner with the Omaha Storm Chasers and Sarpy County on this exciting new video display upgrade for Werner Park, said Matt Warnke, Daktronics sales representative. This new display will provide fans unbelievable image quality while offering the Storm Chasers great flexibility in how they promote their partners as well as adding to an already exciting game-day atmosphere.
